B1G takes it, 8-6. Although I think Coach Crean is a bit more red than orange after last night. B1G went just 3-4 at home, but came up with 5 road wins with Wisky & PSU winning outright as 'dogs. Those were the only 2 point spread underdogs to win outright, and the B1G won the 2 pick'em games as well (NW & Purdue both winning on the road). Despite Coach Fran's heroics those were the 4 key games. And it appears the Big East lost its challenge series with the Pac-12, 0-1. Tough break for the BE. Wednesday (B1G wins 8-6) at Michigan State 71, Louisville 67 (MSU favored by 6) Wisconsin 66, at Syracuse 58 (OT) (Cuse favored by 5) Penn State 67, at Boston College 58 (BC favored by 1) at Duke 94, Indiana 74 (Duke favored by 10) Notre Dame 84, at Illinois 79 (Domers favored by 2 1/2) at Iowa 78, Florida State 75 (OT) (Iowa favored by 5 1/2) Monday (Tied 1-1) Wake Forest 69, at Rutgers 68 (Wake favored by 6) at Minnesota 89, Clemson 83 (Minn favored by 1) Tuesday (tied 4-4) Michigan 66, at NC State 59 (Mich favored by 1) Northwestern 81, at Virginia Tech 79 (OT) (Pick'em) Virginia 64, at Ohio State 58 (UVa favored by 8) Purdue 72, at Pittsburgh 59 (Pick'em) Miami-Fla 77, at Nebraska 72 (OT) (Miami favored by 6) at North Carolina 89, Maryland 81 (UNC favored by 6)4 points

A dominant win in Omaha that ends with no one in the Clink but red-clad true Husker fans, and they'll be screaming "Go Big Red" to anyone who cares to listen. Oh, and a volleyball national championship in the same building 10 days later.3 points

If you go by beating the spread that also favors the B1G 9-53 points

I love Glynn. He is reminding me more and more of Lue. That said, the combination of Tai, Glynn and Benny is necessary. Two words have been missing when evaluating Benny. Character and leadership...3 points -

The answer is: This Husker basketball letterwinner has five "N"s total in his first and last names. More than any other Husker letterman. Alex, Who is Neil Nannen? (early 60's letterman from Syracuse NE) That is correct! Two categories left: Players and their coach's wife or City parks in winter. Ahhhhmaaan. The "Leg hair and knee bends" category has already been closed out? Well there's no way I'm winning.2 points -

At this time our 2014 NCAA qualifying team had lost to UMass and UAB, were about to get thumped by Creighton and showed serious problem with team chemestry. Wish we could have closed out the two close games but I like where we are right now.1 point -

B1G sweeps the early Wednesday games to take a 7-4 lead and clinches at least a series tie, which means B1G clinches the "championship" - very impressive collective set of performances by the league against some tough competition1 point

Question for all you metrics guys.

midrange game is important for attacking the integrity of a defense at multiple levels. the first is that it punishes teams that pack into the paint to deny interior point blank shots. after awhile, they have to extend, freeing up more post space for operation. 2d, for 3 pt shooters, mid range shots can buy you more space between your catch and the defender. play some decent rec ball and you can see this for yourself (where most good players are midrange shooters) I like mid range games because they exploit defensive seams. they also open up scoring options for players who have court value elsewhere but don't have the size or distance shot quality to help out with scoring. a lot more players need to develop this game because of those two factors alone. Just imagine our scoring challenged players if they had the 12-15 foot shot! It's also one of the easiest shots to learn and polish. Like most metrics, there's a context to be understood. and I think to argue that median scoring for team A suffers when a mid range game is employed is a ludicrous argument. However, if a team can deploy all 3 kinds of scoring options, then yes, treys and bunnies are the way to go *for those teams*--and that's all the good this stat does. It's just not generalizable that I can see.1 point
