  2. I think it's pretty closely in line. I haven't looked at it quantitatively, but I would imagine that "last 3 years performance" plays a bigger role in these selections than simply how they played last year. Give us another year or two and you'll see the results. That said, I'm fine with the selection. Middle of the conference team last year RPI-wise and, most importantly, on the road. That's almost better for us RPI-wise than playing a top team at home. All of the words you say are true, I just think this game has ZERO "juice", and will get lost in the shuffle. Probably, but does that matter? Let's be honest, neither of these teams carries much national cache and college hoops in December barely moves the needle as it is. For NU, this game is about how it will impact where they end up in March, not how much attention it garners in December.

  3. 18 pages in this thread. This is getting serious . . . 18 pages is approaching a level signifying, historically, the recruit-isn't-coming. Here are a few observations (without any conclusions) on Deng's recruitment to Nebraska that, collectively, seem odd: 1. He was clearly on the Husker's radar during the November signing period but did not sign then; 2. His official visit to Huskerland suffered multiple postponements; 3. When Deng finally made it to Lincoln, he sandwiched that visit between Baylor and LSU and is now maybe/possibly/still-thinking-on visiting Indiana but has difficulty knowing for sure; 4. His visits to Baylor and to LSU seem to be something of a surprise to posters on message boards for those teams--which would appear to be true for Indiana fans too; 5. Waiting for grades wouldn't appear to be the issue now because Lee College finals are next week and Deng doesn't appear to be worried about attending class or cramming for finals; and 6. Nebraska coaches appear to be focused on future year recruits and don't appear to be scrambling for additional 2014 players. Hard to figure.

  4. It's hard to recruit here. Anyone who thinks it isn't is fooling themselves.

  5. Thorpe also was stripped of his Olympic Gold Medal in the Decathlon.

  6. To answer question #2 jimmy, it would have been while Doc was coach at UTEP when he would have coached against conference mate Memphis. Coached by John Calipari.

  7. I will go on record that Deng Deng will have a better season than Cornish next year statistically no matter where he ends up. Deng is a better overall player right now than Cornish and would be a great addition. I'd personally rather have Deng than Cornish.

  8. Just to clarify, bball 23, I wasn't complaining, I was responding to the post that was complaining. I couldn't be happier with where we are in year 2 of the Miles era. Have to pinch myself sometimes just to make sure it's really happening. But even Miles publically acknowledged that the biggest challenge he has faced so far, and has found harder than he expected, was recruiting. It is just a challenge here. But I love how we are facing the challenge and making progress. For now, we will still have to "recruit" vs. "select".

  9. Careful. Now that's some funny stuff right there Norm. Post of the Week. (and in one word; not exactly your style!) Glad someone got it.

  10. Are we complaining about closing on recruits when the kids hasn't even signed anywhere yet? If you were an 18-19 year old kid wouldn't you want to check out every place you could? Get treated like gold? I would. Doesn't mean Deng Deng won't end up here either. Tim Miles in year 2 got this group to the NCAA tourney for the first time in 15 years and some are complaining already about how hard it is to recruit too? I know it is, but goodness, let's give this some time. Hammond, Smith and Ayegba obviously like it enough to sign and they (on paper) are good players. So it can be done. We still have a shot at Cornish and Deng. Doesn't mean we get them for sure, but lets at least wait to bicker and moan until they decide where they actually end up.

  14. For those interested, they won't be doing the Seat Yourself process for any sport other than football this year. They didn't have it budgeted for any other sports. However, they do plan on doing it for basketball and volleyball next year.

  17. Ok. But I know that they do.Then spill the beans or keep it to yourself. This board does a great job of not having a bunch of faux insiders who make cryptic messages without providing anything of substance. That tends to cause problems on a lot of other boards. You say you know but don't provide any proof. Do you see how contradictory that looks? "I know Nebraska pays players. That's all I'm going to say though." It adds no value to the board if that is all you are going to say. I say what I can say without tipping myself off. If it's not enough for you, that's on you.

  19. I just think it is annoying and a total cop out that anytime we are going up against an SEC school everyone throws out the they are paying them excuse. Man up and win a recruiting battle. If we lose, on to the next one. The cheating allegations with no evidence is just a bunch of sour grapes and makes our fan base look like a group of teenage girls.

  20. LSU pays. Link?No link, I know people who know people. But I'm not saying that he's going there for sure, I just know how we lost Elbert.Nebraska pays too. I know people. It's how we got Hammond. See how easy that is? If you don't think I'm in the know, keep you ears open for Free Seafood University later today.

  24. LSU pays. Link? Perhaps it's merely the $EC penchant for financial msgivings thru 'bag-men'.... LSU is a fine institution, I'm sure. And, as we know, that fat Elbert Robinson is a big dude, no doubt, who must be rooting for one double-D running mate.

  25. The Scout LSU site people are reporting a very high degree of confidence they will sign Deng. The SEC bag men must have come through.

PROVE how you know this to true for a fact. Were you present? Anything else is 2nd, 3rd, or moreth handed and completely unreliable. If you were present, where's the pics?
