Cool Experience

Got to take in a game at the dean done tonight in chapel hill. I am pleased to announce we have a nicer arena! It is however a lm unreal deal looking at all of their banners and history. Sean May was back in attendance and unc can't shoot free throws. They pulled a citadel effort and the crowd was dead as many were in charlotte for football.A beautiful campus and cool to take in as a hoops fan. It did get me thinking are we catching Cincy at the best time? With their big boosters/fans in Charlotte for football and students on break that atmospher can't be as crazy as it is in the past? Maybe we can catch them flat and steal one? Sad to see about Biggs it is always something at nebrasketball.2 points -

This. And if you watched his feet he got away with at least 12 travels. At least the commentators realized and admitted that Kilpatrick was "getting the Kobe/Lebron treatment."2 points -

Anybody else think that rivers would have been better than Walter today? If he is really our 4th "Big" then we should use him as one when our "1st" big scores zero points and doesn't block out a person the entire game2 points -

Nebraska's Talent
jaimes2000 reacted to Bugeaters1 for a topic
After watching today's game, Has Nebraska really upgraded their talent ? they have a 6' 10" player that IMHO should be on the bench, Guards that can't to the free throw line. Just a few of the things that I see as problems maybe the people that are better at seeing the talent can comment about it.1 point -

Yes they have certainly upgraded the talent.1 point -
Shavon's problem is that he's not extremely explosive or super-athletic, so he struggles to finish around the rim against superior athletes. He's going to have to develop a much better jump shot in my opinion because a player like him who lacks elite athletic ability is going to have to make his living more with his shooting than by getting to the rim. Shavon doesn't finish explosively because he's limited athletically, so he ends up getting a lot of shots blocked.1 point

So you heard a rumor that he quit the team or just rumors that he hasn't returned from break yet? Is it possible that due to the quick return and quick departure to Cincy and with Fuller redshirting anyway that Miles told him he could take a couple extra days for break? For instance, were all the transfers last year that sat traveling with the team on road trips?1 point

Biggs

I do not mean to pile on Deverell. He likely is a good kid and kids make mistakes. I go back to his earlier mistake and his formal comment on the situation: “I want to apologize to my teammates, coaches and fans for my actions,” Biggs said in the statement. “I understand the seriousness and the consequences of my actions, have learned from the situation and worked hard to move forward. I look forward to representing Nebraska in a positive manner on and off the court.” In my previous response, I asked if this is strike two...sorry Dimes, this indeed is strike two. It will be interesting to see how Coach Miles approaches the next minor, or not so minor incident that Deverell may become involved with. This is part of the discipline issue that was referenced earlier this season. It relates to the technical that he received after he was fouled a couple of games ago. People can shake their heads and ignore this if you wish, but little issues tend to build into big issues if they go unchecked. That said, Coach Miles is not ignoring these smaller issues, Deverell is once again paying the consequenses of his actions. We need Deverell to understand that there are right ways to do things and wrong ways. We need the type of talent that Deverell brings to the court; so we need Deverell to start living up to the statement he made above. Walk the walk my man! I heard stories about some of Danny Nee's recruits. A couple of the players were, ahem, less than honorable with some of their actions. He surrounded those players with high character players and then charged those players with keeping the, ahem, others in line. I am not necessarily saying that Deverell needs that sponsership, but I am saying that Deverell's little issues are costly to our team...yes I am a bit concerned.1 point -

this seems just a wee bit harsh. not starting him or not playing him in the game seem to be more appropriate. Assume it was a prepatory film session not a showing of Anchorman. Those are important and not to be missed.1 point -

Even though we have three tough road games in a row, we shouldn't be walking into the most hostile atmospheres, not like what we would see at these places in, say, February. Cincinnati: Game over break, so limited number of students, time change to early (noon Eastern) tip may keep attendance down, some Cincy fans will be more interested in/may be attending Belk Bowl a few hours later Iowa: Game over break, so limited number of students, 6 pm tip on New Year's Eve may affect attendance, some Iowa fans will be in Tampa for the Outback Bowl the next day Ohio St: Game over break, so limited number of students, noon Eastern tip may be too early for those who were drowning sorrows/celebrating OSU's Orange Bowl performance the previous night, some OSU fans will be in Miami for football Iowa certainly will be ready to play NU after what we did to them at the Devaney Center last year, but I can't imagine UC or OSU's players are all that worried about NU, and none of their fans who will be in attendance will be too excited about playing NU. So at least we should be walking into a less-than-frenzied atmosphere the next 3 games - even though we'll be underdogs, hope we can steal one of them!1 point -
I see you guys winning 16 games.(Hope you don't mind if I participate)1 point
