    BTN

BTN oversold their product like crazy when we joined. I saw a lot more games on the old ESPN 360 than I do now, and it didn't cost me extra. It's down to win and you get seen. Lose and you don't.

  6. Heh. Thanks guys. How a fan base that gets their jollies off on calling us "Delusional" can be so persistently ignorant, I just don't think I'll ever understand. Yeah, they probably should have named that thread Husker Klitter Klatter or something like that.

I hope he comes. If he chooses to go elsewhere, then I hope the next guy comes. Go Miles, Go Huskers.

  8. Yep, things still trending in the right direction Norm, with or without this kid.

  9. You are kidding yourself if you think it is a neutral sign that he is adding OSU athletes to his tweeting immediately after announcing he made his decision. Still hoping it doesn't matter, but it certainly is more negative for our hopes.

  10. He didnt tweet at pitchford hours after he announced he made his decision and then start following Taylor Martinez Come on, don't try to act like those are the same thing

  12. According to FlightAware.com, it arrived in Dallas at 10:25 this morning. Just 6 minutes before ER's tweet.

  13. id be shocked if this was all for zach smith..im sorry but if he was here on a official loved the place, likely would have commited if we offered but we didn't, and he doesn't fit really what we need right now....why would we fly to Dallas to see him...their aren't any AAU tourneys going right not either..this all screams connection with ER

  14. Does Zach Smith have an offer? Can't remember if he was one who left town after his visit without one. Very possible that the coaches are down there just doing the standard recruiting stuff. Zach Smith is 6-7ish and we are stacked at the wing/small forward position. The timing of this is very strange, indeed. He's tweeted this type of thing before but why today, why Dallas? And why would he tweet it if it was just another trip down to Texas? Craig Smith is our Texas guy, right? And Harriman works with the bigs? Do I have this correct or which of our assistants works directly with the big guys? I believe that he has one but I'm not positive. Robin just did an update with him sbrf he said he liked out here and we are in his Final 3 with TCU and Texas Tech. The Rivals profile for Smith does not list a Nebraska offer. In the article by Robin he listed Smith at 6'8", which may make him a PF candidate. This makes more sense as we are in need of a PF but not a wing. we need a true center..ER is the man we need...

  15. Maybe some kid form down under is looking into a prep school in the Dallas area and Harriman is going down to translate for the family.
    1 point
  16. Well, the coaches chose Dallas as a recruiting destination today for a reason. And Harriman chose to tweet it for a reason. And, yeah, maybe it'd make sense if it was Hunter flying down there but who took the picture? The pilot? "Hey, Kenya, be a mate and run over there real quick and take a picture of me standing next to the plane before we hop on, 'kay?" The timing is suspicious and you have to factor that into the tea leaves.

  17. . But they aren't going to say if it was a crappy visit. Recruits never do that. Plus, the same could be said for his visit here. Elbert and his family "didn't know what to expect" and maybe weren't looking forward to it that much but afterwards they said they were blown away with how good it was. I never said the recruit. The coach said that on rivals he didn't look forward to that visit and then after the visit said it was great.

It's hard for me to see him not going to OSU given the timing. You know the OSU coaching staff was in touch with him last night after the Goodluck announcement.

  19. I will say I enjoy how the coaches seem to be very open (or as open as they can be) about the who, what and where they are going to find kids to come play for us. I know that they can't come out and say this is who we are after or visiting, but they do let us kind of get an educated guess about it. I don't get to high or low on who is or isn't coming here. I will worry more about them once they are here. But the guessing and talking is fun, ain't it?

It's one thing to claim the World-Herald has created controversies within the Husker program. It's quite another to say they have reported controversies. I think the second sentence is more accurate.

  23. All of this stuff is from Tim's press conference yesterday - you can see the actual video here Here is the copy from huskers.com On the status of David Rivers (foot) and Shavon Shields (tailbone), as Rivers did not scrimmage on Friday and Shields left the scrimmage after landing awkwardly They have both practice full since the scrimmage (last Friday) and it has been good. You get guys who are nicked up, but it is nothing out of the ordinary. Shavon practiced twice the next day (Saturday). What are your thoughts after the first week of practice There are some exciting possibilities with this team. I really like their athleticism and their movement. We have a good group of guys who are athletic and play the game really hard. We lack some things too. It might be a little unfair to judge this early. We are inexperienced. Our best guys that we think can make an impact are young. We have one senior on scholarship. When you are inexperienced like that, you worry a little bit about the peaks and valleys. It feels like a roller coaster some days. On the challenges of having a youthful team Decisions. Whether it is what pass you can make or a passing decision, a bad shot or a defensive gamble. Those things are decisions and discipline and they go hand-in-hand. And bringing it everyday and having that ability to come every day with a certain mentality to be successful. Yeah, and I thought last year’s group made a heckuva lot better decisions than this year’s group. This is an aggressive group, which I like, but that can lead to issues too. It’s a delicate balance of how much to reign them in and how much to let them go. Early, I think we will try to figure out our best combinations to be successful. When On the benefits of having 30 practices before the season opener I looked at the last three years and before our first game, we had 22, 22 or 23 or 19. We had a short year in there too. We have significantly more practice time. That is a double-edged sword because already they are ready to play someone else early. Now that you get into it coaches are going to want something else. With earlier practices, it would be nice to have an earlier scrimmage. One about mid-October when we used to start and another one or an exhibition game toward the end of October. We are going to have to figure that out. On creating a system so the newcomers are not overwhelmed. Our system is built to go to the players’ strengths so whatever those guys need at the time that they can execute is what we will do. We are going to see what we can do well, and we aren’t going to do any more or and we are not going to just add stuff to add stuff. We have to find out what we can do well though. Every team is a little different. The team you think you have in October quite often is not the team you end up having in January and February. That is the discovery and I look forward to the improvement of this team throughout the season. Right now, I think it is going to be a roller coaster early. I think we will play well some nights, but there are some nights we might struggle. That comes with maturity and discipline. That comes with better decisions and experience. When all of those things fall into place, I think we can have a nice club on the floor. On whether the Huskers will play at a faster pace than last year There were two games where we played only five guys in the second half, so I promise you we will be faster than last year. On where this team can improve and get better during the season We are not going to get more possessions If we don’t get defensive stops, so we have to be an excellent defensive team and we have room to grow there, there is no doubt. I think this team is an athletic bunch who can get down the floor and that is important. I think we can be a better rebounding team. Those are two areas where I can see improvement in. On the battle at point guard between Benny Parker, Deverell Biggs and Tai Webster It is going great. I think you can play a couple of guys at the same time. When you have multiple handlers and playmakers, that can really help create more opportunities for those other guys. We are looking at all options, but competition is always healthy. On Tai Webster’s development He is a freshman and he plays like a freshman, but a talented freshman. Tai has a lot of talent and has shown some exciting potential. There are some things he needs to get better at, there is no question about that, but every guy is like that. Every guy in our program is going to have a thirst to want to get better; a thirst for self improvement and team improvement. Tai wants to get better. He’s looking forward to it and working hard at it. On Deverell Biggs The lights are on now so he is only a few games away from getting out there, so he’s pretty excited. He’s played well in practice, except yesterday, but that happens to everybody. On if Mike Peltz will redshirt I think Mike is going to play. If we redshirt him, I can’t see him on special teams for the Husker football team next year. I say that tounge-in-cheek a little bit, but I think that kid could do anything. I believe we will see him on the floor, but we have only had him a little bit in practice right now. On the post play I think Leslee Smith and Walt Pitchford have done some good things. Sergej is still developing and I want him to speed it up a little bit. Those are our three best options at this point down there. We might not play traditional where you play four out and one in and throw it around an anchor. I’ve had all conference guys like Andy Odige. We played around him for two years at Colorado State. Chad Koenen was an All-American for us at Southwest Minnesota State that we played around him. Sometimes you get anchored, sometimes you don’t and we will see. There are a lot of ways to get the ball into the paint and we are going to figure out how to be at the rim because you have to be at the rim, whether it is throwing it to a guy whose back is to the basket, or driving it or screen and roll or transition or offensive rebounds. We are going to pick from three or four of those pots and go strongly in that direction.

  24. My math skills aren't good enough to even attempt this exercise, but I'm surprised by the low numbers for Benny. He brings experience at point. I'd think Benny would get 10 minutes a game minimum, wouldn't be shocked if he starts in the opener. His shooting pct. will go up this year, and his turnovers will go down. Not saying he's the most talented of the PG candidates, but he's likely to be the steadiest.

  25. True, I still love that we are in on a recruit of this caliber. I just want to figure out whats going to happen with Elbert over the next couple of days. After his visit to gtown on the 11th, I think we will know a lot more about where he is going to reside. It's a little worrisome to me that on the Crystal Ball that 12 out of 13 insiders have predicted Elbert to LSU. I know those aren't always accurate, but still, all of those insiders heard something that makes them think Elbert is going to choose LSU. And that's not all LSU guys making those predictions to LSU. It's Duke insiders, Kansas insiders, even a Georgetown guy picking Elbert to LSU.

  28. The black road unis he'd occasionally wear playing for Nebraska would have a much more slimming effect than purple and yellow. Those just aren't his colors. But, if he wants to clash ...

  30. I'm not saying NU gets him, I'm also not going to judge who he follows and tweets at. So, say he visited OSU a month ago and then a few days later started to follow some OSU players. Visits NU last week and then starts to follow some of them as well since he just recently met them. That automatically means that NU wins because he starts tweeting some new players HE JUST MET?? People always assume the last place somebody visits is going to be the place they go. So he tweeted at an OSU kid...big deal. If I tweet at my mom that I love her, then tweet at my dad that I love him, and 2 hours later I say I know what I want for Christmas, does this mean that I'm expecting my dad to buy it since I tweeted him last?
