Now 11-7 in our last 18 conference games (.611) and 21-8 over our last 29 games (.724) - close to a full season for both.

    • That .724 winning pct would rank as the best "season" we've had since 1990-91 (.765)
    • That .611 B1G winning pct would tie for our 2nd best conference "season" since 1998-99.

Good 15 minutes out of Rice tonight.

Feels like he's going to average 10+ a game starting next year.

Yup. He was the guy at the beginning of the season I hoped got worked in so he could get experience.

Hoiberg started getting compared to Adolph Lewandowski and he said "No way!"

Won 3 of the first 5 conference games.

In order to win 3 of the 2nd 5, we have to win @Maryland

Three wins in the third 5 are most likely the three home games against Wisconsin, Michigan and Penn State.

To get to three wins in the final 5, we probably have to pick up a road win in Ann Arbor with probable home wins against Rutgers and Minnesota and a probable road loss at tOSU. But winning in Assembly Hall is not out of the question either.

Just don't lose bad to anyone. Don't lose more than 1 at home. And if you do lose 1 at home, find 2 road wins.

    There ya go. Easy-peasy.

    Notes from UNL

    • Rienk Mast ended with 34 points, which marks both a season and a career high. His previous career high was 30 against Northern Iowa on March 3, 2023. It marked his 10th career game with 20 or more points.

    • Mast’s 34 points and 10 rebounds make this his fifth double-double of the season and 25th of his career.

    • Mast’s 34-point effort is the most by a Husker since Teddy Allen had 41 against Penn State on Feb. 23, 2021. Mast’s 34 points ties for 17th on NU’s single-game scoring list.

    • Mast’s six 3-pointers is the most by a Husker since Kobe Webster had seven at Northwestern on March 7, 2021. Mast had four against Southern Illinois when he was at Bradley on March 4, 2021

    • According to CBB reference, it is only the 12th time this season in Division I that a player had at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and shot 75 percent from the field. Purdue’s Zach Edey is the only other Big Ten player to do it in 2023-24.

    • C.J. Wilcher scored 16 points, marking his third-straight game in double-figures (10th this season). Over his last four games, Wilcher is averaging 10.8 points off the bench for the Huskers. Wilcher’s four 3-pointers tied a season high (vs. North Dakota on 12/20/23).

    • Wilcher’s 16-point effort gave NU a double-figure effort from its bench in 17 of 20 games this season.

*-Nebraska has scored 80 or more points 11 times, including in six of the last nine contests.

    • Nebraska’s six turnovers was its lowest total since setting a school record with two turnovers against Duquesne on Nov. 22.

    • Nebraska tied a season high with 14 3-pointers (also vs. Purdue), the 11th time this season with 10-or-more 3-pointers in a game.

    • With the win, Nebraska improves to 13-1 at home, matching the most home wins since 2018-19

    • Nebraska has won the last three meetings with Ohio State, the first time NU has won three straight against Ohio State. The Huskers’ 83 points tonight is the most NU has scored in 27 meetings with Ohio State.

    • Nebraska is 11-0 this season when holding opponents to 70 points or less and

    • Nebraska out-rebounded Ohio State 35-28 and is now 10-0 when out-rebounding its opponent this season.

Keisei didn't play in the final 16 minutes.  Hopefully, it was because the other guys were playing so well and not an injury.

Helps that Mast was out there basically doing what Keisei usually does.  That allows you to keep more of a defensive guard lineup in there late.

About time for some Ditch Oven signs in the student section. Amazing performance.

A Dutch oven is when you pass gas in bed and pull the covers over someone else's head, trapping it in like a Dutch oven traps heat

Fred made comment about players not having great nights doing a good job of supporting the team on the floor ... felt like that was a comment about Keisei. This continues to be a situation to watch and monitor. I think there's a bit of dissension around these issues from time to time. Good job tonight cheering on your team Keisei.

One of the better improvements in the last week was the ability to box out.  We had some outstanding box outs this game.

Yep, every team pretty much has the ability but it's really about the mentality.  Effort and intent to be physical has been there recently and now we need to carry that into the road. Guards have also done a much better job of crashing down and initiating contact with an offensive player.

Keisei and Sam are tight. I bet Tominaga would rather win big & cheer on his 'mates than to sulk in the corner, like past teams' have been prone to do. Just my thoughts on the Keisei predicament, he constantly gets abused on defense, but usually offers up the three-point threat. Well, tonight, that particular role belonged to Rienk Mast. He was like Joel Embiid out there, it was incredible. This team has a lot of good pieces that bring it on any given night. Rice's emergence really started in that generally poor outing for NU at Iowa. His role has expanded ever since, and I've been hoping Eli could carve out a role, especially with the uncertain status of Keita & Gary, in particular.

I fully expect to see posts this summer of him being eye level with the rim and putting on 20lbs

Always feels good to kick the crap out of Ohio State in anything. In basketball, no team in the league does less with more talent.

Was more than a little worried after scoring 13 points in the first 8 minutes, but the offense was not too bad after that 😄 70 pts in the final 32 minutes will get the job done most nights.

Our rebounding was excellent - for a team that rebounds offensively as well as OSU, for us to win the 2nd chance point battle like that (16-2) was beyond impressive, especially without Gary.

That's verbatim to what I said after the ballgame tonight. Uncanny!
