I get it, especially when the outcome is no longer in doubt, but that wasn't the case here. If I'm a player for MSU, I'm like Coach, WTF??

If you were watching on TV, you might have missed Michigan St's first possession where Lawrence (183#) absolutely trucked Mady Sissoko (250#) who was waiting for a rebound.

I didn't, but I did see Keisei move some guys around.

Yeah. And we were up 7 with the ball and a fleet of good FT shooters on the floor. So, a foul probably puts us up 9 with 22 seconds to play. And then they have a 35% chance +/- to nail a 3 with maybe 15 seconds left and cut it to 6? 

Yeah, I agree with Izzo. Just let the game end.

I think part of the decision nowadays comes down to whether it is worth it to potentially hurt your MOV metric by fouling for a very small chance to win the game.

What if they stole the inbounds pass and hit a 3, maybe burning 5 seconds? There down 4. Pressure us again into another turnover and score again and it's a one possession game with maybe 8-10 seconds left. We've all seen crazy stuff like this happen over the years so again, I was stunned when he just told his players to back off with so much time on the clock. Glad he did, but wasn't something I was expecting. I'm pretty sure if the situation was reversed and we were down seven and let the clock run out with 22 seconds left, fans would have been pissed. On to K-State.

I would have went for the steal but then not foul but either way the chances were less than 1%. That last completely unforced turnover kind of killed Izzy’s spirit I think.

Any foul deemed "deliberate" during the last minute should be assessed a technical at the discretion of the referee if the point differential is 7 or more. It would end the long, boring parades to the foul line at the end of games and make tv time scheduling more predictable for the following game. 

If Michigan State was playing the TV time slot right before Nebraska they would have fouled three more times so we would miss the first ten minutes of our game.

Down 7 with 24 seconds left or whatever is the right time to stop fouling. I would not be upset as a Nebraska fan if we gave up at that point. You go for the steal, and if you don't get it, that's game.

Good that we are not playing Sparty today, December 16.

Wow 20+ point win against #6 rated team.  We seemingly acted as a wake up call.

Just learned that MSU freshman Jeremy Fears was shot while home for Christmas break.  The incident is not life-threatening; but tragic nonetheless.   I believe it was a leg injury and he did undergo surgery. 

I wish him the best with his recovery.
