They were released a couple weeks ago

What was the reason they weren't being released? They finally realized it could hurt his recruiting process? Sorry I am out of the loop on this, just remember they weren't releasing them for some unknown reason.

This is why Nebraska should try to get in a high AAU league. We may never know how good some of these guys are. You can't take chances at the power 5 level and hope things work out.

Easier said than done. Getting into the top AAU leagues takes several years of amazing talent and having to go the independent route before you get an offer to join.

If you go look at the top teams they recruit nationally for their team. I mean Caleb Swanigan was playing for the Portland Nike team as an 8th and 9th grader and he was from Indiana.

I hope Nebraska offers Wingett, pairing him with Arop would be a nice duo in the 2017 recruiting class.

Are there grade issues? Character issues? I hate to post that and elude that there might be those things - but I'm just thinking out loud. I just feel like the things he can do at 6'7", 6'8" cannot be taught.

I think it's mainly an issue of level of competition his ability to compete this summer against high level competition could help greatly, what dosnt help him when it comes to NU offering a scholarship is the fact that with our ability to recruit nationally and at a high level we can't afford any misses or wasted scholarships on potential projects anymore, and there may be concern about durability he has trouble gaining and keeping weight on.

The problem for Wingett is that hes in the dime a dozen range in terms of height and ability.  Line up your 6'6''-6'8'' D1 basketball players and you will see most every school has a plethora of them.  To get to the "BCS" level those players in that height range need something that sets them apart from everyone else which is hard to do.  I personally feel Wingett doesnt have anything that sets him apart from the pack, which isnt taking anything away from him being a D1 talent, but dont feel he has enough to get the next echelon in terms of offers from the bigger programs.
