He shouldn't have been drinking but from the sound of it, the "accident" wasn't a big deal, the BAL was. Don't think he'll miss time next year because of this but I bet he runs his butt off in practice. Usually takes one of these "incidents" for a new coach to set the bar on punishment.

From the way they were leading up to the story on the Ticket it sounded like he might have gotten seriously injured or something terrible.

Everyone makes misstakes. He's just 20, think back to when you were 20. Might have done something similar. Just make him run a bunch or sit out the rest of the year...

My guess is some etxra stuff now, community service, and suspended for the first game next year. Doesnt make it overly harsh but send a message since this is the first thing Miles has really had to deal with a player staying with the team.

This seems a little bit odd: Biggs "was waiting for the stoplight to change at Howard and 15th Streets about 1:40 a.m. Sunday . . . A Bellevue man stopped behind him, also facing west, told police Biggs remained parked in his Chevrolet Suburban through several light changes. Biggs then backed his car into the Bellevue man’s Mercedes, got out of his car and briefly talked with the man but drove away before the two could exchange information."

Here's guessing there's a little more to the story between the sentence that ends with "several light changes" and the sentence that begins with "Biggs then backed his car." At 15th & Howard there should be plenty of room at 1:40 a.m. for a Mercedes to drive around a Suburban during the course of "several light changes."

And the Mercedes driver admits that Biggs spoke with him before leaving the scene.

well, i'm guessing a guard slot just opened up.

Doubt that, hes being charged with two misdemeanors. I'm sure there will be some action taken by Coach Miles but I doubt it will be him getting dismissed. And he shouldn't.

You may be right. Lauren Cook ran over someone and only got a game suspension. So he's probably going to be okay.

Maybe the people in the Mercedes could tell Biggs had been drinking by the way he was driving and called the police. That could be why they did not drive around him. Not sure though. The story sounds really strange. I know he is redshirting, but it is not good that he is drinking during the season the night before a game.

And in a bizarre twist of circumstances, 15th & Howard is located directly in front of the Omaha Police Department's downtown headquarters, the formal address of which is 505 S. 15th St.

My guess on this is the person was abiding by the rules of the road and wasnt about to pass unlawfully and was an overly cautious driver. Id be willing to bet Biggs fell asleep at the wheel. Could have been a deal where the Mercedes honks their horn that woke him up and startled him and put the car into reverse in the process.

The team was in El Paso, TX while all of the redshirts are left behind and allowed to go home for the holidays. After the tournament all current players were allowed to go home as well. This meant RS players had well over a week off. I dont think it really mattered what Biggs was doing since he wasnt with the team and allowed to be at home for the holidays.

I hope Deverell gets the help that is necessary. This does not sound like an offense worthy of a dismissal. We do not know all the facts, but it sounds as if Biggs made a number of bad judgements. He will be disciplined and I trust the athletic department and the basketball program will provide the proper discipline.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Only do whiskey/Nyquil chasers at home.....

Plead guilty, take the punishment, learn from the mistake, use better judgement in the future, move on. No point in compounding the problem by having the coach overreact. I'm not minimizing the potential dangers of consuming alcohol and driving but am simply being realistic about this incident. Many other individuals including head coaches, US senators, and presidents of the USA have had similar incidents and been able to persevere.
