We don't need Harris to be your traditional 5.  Fact of the matter is that there are very few college teams with legitimate 5-men.

Guys like Okafor and Kaminski are not the norm.   Get me a bunch of long athletic guys who are quick leapers and can alter shots, play with an attitude and not just get pushed around like Walt did.

We need something like this. Someone that will hold their own

He was a fringe top 150 guy out of high school. Do we have room for another one of those?

The guy was scoring double digits for a team that won the Big East tournament.  There are plenty of top 150 guys that have never come close to doing that in their careers.

Visit still unclear according to OWH and Lee B in today's sports page:

One national recruiting analyst reported that Providence forward Tyler Harris, a 6-9 fifth-year transfer, would visit Nebraska in the next few weeks. But sources told The World-Herald that potential relationship remains unclear.

Harris is the guy I have wanted the entire time.  I really hope we can at least get him a visit.  I always am somewhat hopeful if we can get a guy on campus to show them that Nebraska isn't just "cornfields and tractors".  So many times after a kid visits either NU or CU you will read a quote saying things like "I didn't know Nebraska had such a big city feel to it."  I honestly think so many think our State is simply cornfields and beans and cattle.

I think there is a lot of truth here.

I also think that the cornheads and, to a lesser degree Herbie Husker himself, only help to perpetuate these stereotypes.

If some of these guys aren't willing to do a lil' recon on the state of Nebraska prior to their visit, then they're probably not going to come here anyways... hopefully TH will visit, I think he'd be a good fit with the balance of the team. A likely upgrade at PF or C, even; whether he's a C or not, it would be an upgrade in ability as one of 5 B1G-time players on the court.

Before everyone gets on the Harris-is-a-must-get bandwagon, we might all want to take the Omaha World Herald caution as a for-real deal. Here's guessing that, (i) the "national recruiting analyst" information comes from the recruit or his advisors, and (ii) the "relationship remains unclear" information comes from a different source.

I read that as "he's potentially going to come here but no date has been scheduled/finalized" and would read the "relationship remains unclear" from someone at/near the U.

Maia was also going to visit but then decided Pitt worked for him.  Thus, until Harris plans and subsequently visits the campus, he hasn't and might never.

I can tell you that someone from the staff has met him in person so there is an actual connection here.

This is the internet, we're supposed to speculate with uncalculated exaggerations! ;)

I don't think this board would be nearly as fun without the aspect of speculation. It's what keeps me coming back, time and time again! :)

Nearly everyone who frequents the recruiting board, in particular, must be into the speculative nature of this forum. That's basically the very make-up of recruiting (in a crusty nutshell)... ;)

Harris/someone who can play right away is a must with Gill being added and having to sit out a year.

Need someone who can play.

Someone like Harris or another 6'-9"+ big would be a huge boost for 2015-16. Getting a great grad transfer *SOON* seems important for the upcoming season, especially with the foreign trip this summer.

I don't think there is another person of Gill's quality available as a redshirt transfer that we're in on.
