- If we never see Karl Hess do another Nebrasketball game, it'll be too soon.

- Was as impressed by the first half as I've been by a half all season. Complete effort.

- The second half, I thought we lost a lot of our defensive intensity, then FSU started hitting some shots. For NU to hold on was pretty big, but they've got to keep up that defensive intensity throughout.

- Refs changed this game, in the second half. At least two of the fouls on Petteway were laughable. The one double foul was hilarious.

- Parker's 3 was clutch.

- Smitty's 3 was Cassell like.

- Rivers didn't have a great game, but had a couple hustle plays that were huge.

- Abraham had some nice box outs and a big layup late.

- Hammond in the first half played some big minutes and I thought he did ok. Didn't hurt the team, at least.

- Our post depth got exposed tonight, though I don't know that we'll face another team with that many guys over 7 ft.

- Webster had some looks that he absolutely has to knock down if he's going to be who we all think he can be.

- 14 turnovers isn't too bad.

- If FSU was any sort of free throw shooting team, they win this game easily.

- This was a pretty gutty effort, all things considered. Hopefully this will pay off down the road when they face, shall we say, more hostile crowds. I'll never complain about a road win.

May not be the best win on paper. But I had this as a loss at the start of the year and was much needed. Refs were brutal and made it hard to get in a groove. I think it's time...Tarin should be taking Websters minutes. Tarin has looked better. Tai was lazy on defense tonight and still can't shoot a basketball. Benny was big again. Big 3 and a number of defensive stops. Great to see Walt hit a few.

Nice win...there was some good, bad and ugly.

I won't directly pick on the refs.  I could, but I won't.  But the way they called the game, it certainly affected how we played defense.

Actually, Tarin and Benny are splitting minutes.  According to Miles, Tai is giving Shavon and Terran a blow.

Tarin has really impressed with his poise, confidence & play-making abilities. Gonna be a good one for next 4 years.

In the end, it's a road win vs. a top 100 RPI team, in spite of the horrible refereeing.  These are the kinds of wins that matter come selection sunday.

Not sure that is going to be correct when it's all said and done.  FSU is not a great team and already have losses vs Northeastern, UMASS, and a 26 point defeat to Providence.  Don't think they win many games in the ACC this year.

Road wins are hard to come by in the 1st half dozen games of the year.... NU really needs Leslee Smith back by EARLY January, if at all humanly possible.

Amen. This is one less B1G win we need to win to minimally qualify for the tourney

It really depends on how fast their team can get healthy. They have talent on the roster and Hamilton typically puts it together. Hopefully he will again this year. That home crowd really doesn't do them any favors though.

Here is what appears to be the rotation.

PG Benny or Tarin

SG Terran or Tai

W Shavon or Terran

PF David or Shavon

P Walt or Moses.

There may be a bit more mix and matching.  But generally Tai is no longer playing PG.  I did get a kick out of the announcers proclaiming that Tai was our best defender.  I wonder where they came up with that conclusion.  I do believe Tai is a good defender, but I am unsure what makes him the best?

They were hovering around the Twinkle and Stink line all night

Good to get the ugly win, but I'm pretty negative tonight.

--The other refs were as pitiful as Hess;

--Kudos to Benny, Tarin, Shavon

--Some great plays as always by Terran, but some boneheaded plays that could cost us a game.  And selfish play not dishing to Shavon on the break and then getting the charge; that was a big missed opportunity.  And absolutely brutal turnover on a 3rd grade pass that gets taken in for a dunk or layup; could have been the game

--Walt is a total mess right now.  Physically and mentally AWOL.  Getting concerned he may not come out of it.

--Agree with uneblinstu on Hammond's minutes.    Liked what I saw.

--Tai can't shoot.  Hey Tai, there's a reason you're open.  And still struggling with passing decisions.  It's getting late.  Reason for concern here.

--We need more than 2 scoring options.  Rivers was hesitant to shoot the mid range jumper tonight; he may have to do that.  And hopefully Benny can keep up the better shooting.  And of course, Walt could help here but what a struggle right now.

--We play like this bad things will happen Sunday.  Glad we have a week to figure some things out

Theory: This season will turn on whether Terran Petteway can learn/decide to play within the system or continues his black-hole hot-doggin' with the ball. There have been a number of times this season that the team has performed better with Terran on the bench--his efficiency has got to improve dramatically, or he will undoubtedly be a college player this time next year!

Reality: Tarin Smith is a special player. His three point shot came up huge, but the heads-up assist to David Rivers is every-bit as critical to the win.
