#214 in the nation is the type of player we've been fighting for at the end of the recruiting cycle. It's just earlier on so it feels different because we're less desperate. This is a solid commit for us. http://247sports.com/Player/Michael-Jacobson-59856

I know people ended up having different opinions on Atewe, but most people would've been happy to take him and he was #301 in the nation. http://247sports.com/Player/Matthew-Atewe-25427?Institution=2644.

dit: Hammond ended up as the #191 player in the nation per 247 composite. Are we not happy with him? http://247sports.com/Player/Jake-Hammond-23651?Institution=24971

You make great points. I think the concern is dat signing dis cat prolly means no Morrow. It be rare,to get 2 PFs in the same class plus a kid like Morrow wit tons of high level offers aint likely to go where they got another pf in the same class.
Two totally different players. We may indeed may not getc Morrow but it won't be because of the Jacobsen commitment.

Thanks for finding the film atskooc.

Decent looking shot.  Totally NOT a stiff.  Has some decent tools.  I question his athleticism, so whoever said athletic and underrated, I didn't see much (other than being recruited to play TE) that says "athletic" to me.  But I could be wrong about the athleticism part.

I do not think this is a wasted scholarship, regardless of what his other offers might have been.  This is a kid who, if he waited to sign next April, would "blow up" over the winter and get offers from all kinds of majors looking to fill out their classes.

He is far more skilled than Atewe.  Doesn't take a lot of film to see that.  I'm good with this.  Now let's go get the next one.

I am happy he wants to wear the N, as was mentioned, not a program changer but could be a great role player.  Who knows, with hard work he might surprise all of us.  Remember Bruce Chubick.

Brian Rosenthal posted this morning that Iowa State loved him but didn't have room for him. Iowa is apparently meeting as a staff today to decide whether or not to extend an offer.

Brian also said that he was a huge priority for the Husker staff and one of their top 2-3 targets for this class. He said we wanted him BAD.

Just passing along what he said...

I hope hes a guy willing to redshirt like Fuller.  It would even out the classes and gives us a guy that could be a great 6-7th man in a few years.

Yeah I saw that.  If Miles thinks he is capable of it more power to him and the team.  I don't see many minutes available next year but hopefully the ones he would get are meaningful.

We aren't exactly flush with outside shooters.  This guy is a good jump-shooter with decent range.  Plus he's got the length to get off his own shot.  While I'm sure most of us want dudes like Morrow, Baptiste, etc. that will punish the rim and fly over folks, there is still a need for some folks who play on the perimeter and can stretch a defense.  My initial reaction was "meh", but the more I watch his clips and think about our roster...I'll take him.

I see him and Fuller as similar players.  Thats why I'd like to see a year of separation.

Totally different.  Fuller is left handed.  Jacobson is not.  So ...

I assume given he is a 2015 recruit do you mean a year from now?

Well the season for this year, 2014, starts in 3 months so I consider 2015 next year when he will be a freshman.

I understand what he brings to the table but wasn't one of our problems this season the lack of a big man down low. He might turn out to be a great shot but unless he makes 100% of his shots we still need rebounds. This was exactly the PF I wanted. But we will see

I would assume thats what guys like Sehic and Morrow would do and thats why we are still after them hard.  Jacobson is a specialty guy that can come off the bench to give a different look.

Maybe a like a Kyle Korver?
