Nebrasketballer Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Watson and Morrow would be a good pair to build a great class around. I'd like to see White in the fold as well. Hey, a fella can dream, can't he? Lets just grab:Ed Morrow, PF (Rivals150) Glynn Watson, PG (Rivals150) D'Jery Baptiste, C Andrew White III, SF (former Rivals150, transfer) DeShawn Freeman, SG (JUCO AA) ...and shut it down. Heck with it. Seriously though...I'd be giddy about getting 1 of those 5. 2 or more is fantasy territory. I think these are the high level prospects that Nebraska has the best chance of landing within the next year:Ed Morrow, PF (Rivals150) Markis McDuffie, SF (Rivals150) Glynn Watson, PG (Rivals150) D'Jery Baptiste, C Andrew White III, SF (former Rivals150, transfer) AuroranHusker 1 Quote
colhusker Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 You're a Hunter recruit.Wish I had anywhere near d1 talent I can sit on the bench as well as ANY D1 talent! Outside of that, not much similarity to that kind of talent. Quote
royalfan Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Really like the looks of this kid. lanigan123 1 Quote
busticket Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Sounds like the visit went decent. Not a ton of info, but here's a little blurb from Adam Zagoria: http://zagsblog.com/recruiting/watson-visits-nebraska-creighton/ Quote
HuskerCager Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 For any school hoping to sign a top 100 player for 2015, time is of the essence. 32% of the ESPN top 100 has already made a verbal commitment. Quote
ajb5856 Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Robins update yesterday said that Watson wasn't going to comment until after his visit to Creighton. I expect he'll be interviewed today and we'll see an article. Quote
49r Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Not optimistic on this one. Purdue's gonna be tough to beat for this kid. Quote
lanigan123 Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 At first impression, 49r seems correct, but I think Painter's last year says a lot about the direction of the program. Also, players leaving doesn't always help when it's someone who seems to be one of the better players. Red flags. I think we need to recruit him and Ed together. The idea of playin with other local Chicago kids is big. This the reason I was hoping Ed would pull the trigger. Quote
lanigan123 Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 He seems to be retweeting the Creighton fans! Quote
49r Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Recruiting - 2015 Four Star Point Guard Visiting Nebrasketball - BT Powerhouse http://www.btpowerhouse.com/2014/6/7/5788046/recruiting-2015-four-star-point-guard-visiting-nebrasketball Most programs would love to have a guy like this and that is why the likes of Marquette, Iowa, Creighton, and Purdue have offered a scholarship along with Nebraska. Will he commit to the Cornhuskers this weekend? Probably not, but getting him on campus could go a long way in eventually getting this coveted commitment. Quote

49r Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Not optimistic on this one. Purdue's gonna be tough to beat for this kid. Why do you think that? They have a huge need at his position, and West Lafayette is an easy drive from his hometown. Plus, Purdue has the hoops tradition that we don't... Only question mark in my opinion would be Painter's future there may be in doubt. I'm not saying we aren't in it for him, but from a purely objective point of view, I would have to think Purdue's going to be pretty appealing to a kid like him. Quote
OurDecay Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 At this point, lets just worry if we can out-recruit Creighton for a recruit. Those battles (or perceived battles) have not been going good for us lately. Quote
49r Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 At this point, lets just worry if we can out-recruit Creighton for a recruit. Those battles (or perceived battles) have not been going good for us lately. True. But I just have the feeling that out-recruiting them on this kid means finishing second to Purdue. That's ultimately who we'll have to beat out for him. Quote
colhusker Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 He's made multiple trips to campus. There is a kid at Louisville that we could have said the same thing about. Agree with Decay, I would much rather lose him to Purdue (if that is where he goes) than to the bluebirds. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Glynn Watson's offers, according to Rivals and ESPN and 247 Sports, are from Nebraska, Creighton, Purdue, Penn St., Marquette, Iowa and DePaul. So, if he is a top-70 and four-star recruit, why don't his offers include something closer to the likes of Louisville and Kansas and Michigan St. and Michigan and Wisconsin and Ohio St. and UConn? Have higher ranked targets which most of those schools do, B. do not have a need at PG for this cycle, C. doesn't fit their style of offense. Basketball is not like football. Teams may only have 1-3 scholarships a year and have bigger needs elsewhere. Whereas with football a top 100 player will get tons of offers because every team needs to recruit every position for the most part every year especially for depth. Rankings are made based on the players abilities not by the amount of offers they garner. Silverbacked1, Cookie Belcher and Bugeaters1 3 Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Kamdy do you have a feeling about Watson and where he will end up? No clue. He says he wants to take official visits but could see him just randomly, to us, announce one day out of the blue. Quote
OurDecay Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 One thing I was...discouraged...about in Robin's article on Rivals is that it appeared Watson considered our facilities and CU's as essentially equal. Is that really true? I know CU recently made some improvements but I can't believe NU doesn't have better facilities overall. I don't know enough about CU to pay attention to what they've been doing. FWIW, Robin kind of hinted tonight though that he thinks Purdue is the leader, as they've been on him the longest. Hoping we land him. Quote
uneblinstu Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Well, they are just putting the finishing touches on this. It looks pretty spiffy. Not sure it's up to the Hendricks level, but it's pretty nice. http://www.omaha.com/creighton/creighton-s-championship-center-brings-wow-factor-for-recruits/article_26879436-edd2-11e3-bbec-0017a43b2370.html Keep in mind, other schools will catch up in facilities to Nebraska. We're on top for only so long. It's a perpetual arms race. Just because we might be now, doesn't mean we will be two years from now. Quote
ajb5856 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Same story. Another recruit comes to visit and Nebraska was 'better than they expected, better that they thought it was going to be'. Need to turn the corner just a little more so Nebraska is not a huge surprise to every recruit. We need to be cemented as a top basketball program so Nebraska is thought of as a legit contender before a recruit sees campus. Quote

Just because we might be now, doesn't mean we will be two years from now. Don't fret the arms race. We not only have the Vault (perhaps the best home-court advantage in the B1G) and the practice facility (perhaps the best facility in the region, college or pro) . . . but we also have Tim Miles. Of all we have, Tim Miles is the trump card--no one else has anything close to a Tim Miles. AuroranHusker, NeHoops and Silverbacked1 3 Quote

I'm not fretting the arms race, just saying that other teams aren't going to let NU sit atop the heap with these things for long. If NU has more success over the next couple of years, I fully expect they'll do everything they can to keep up. I'm not worried. Quote
