Huskerpapa Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Dang, Terran had a great year. It was a blast to watch him this year. I personally believe he will eventually play in the NBA...but I also believe he is not quite ready. He must build more strength and there are elements of his game that needs continuing improvement. Do you believe he will stay or go? I believe he stays...at least one more year. http://www.omaha.com/article/20140327/HUSKERS/140328701/1002#miles-to-ask-nba-group-to-evaluate-petteway Quote
HB Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 He stays. I have a lot of things to worry about today, but Terran leaving this year is not one of them. Quote
Concrete Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 "after signing 6-10 Jacob Hammond last fall and getting a spring commitment from 6-2 Tarin Martin — have one scholarship available, with a second possible if there is any attrition." wut Quote

Not just Terran. We could be "asking" Serj to move on. Somebody could leave....stuff happens. I also think Terran stays. The guy wants to be the man that puts NU on the map and I really believe that. I think he knows with some hard work this team could do very good things next year. Quote

jimmykc Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Didn't Ryan Anderson and Maric also do this? I would not be too concerned about this having any impact on next year and why wouldn't the leading scorer in the Big10 not want to see where he stands? If he is as confident about his skills as he seems to be then his NBA status can only increase with another year here. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Another quote from the article: "Recruiting continues at Nebraska, too, as Miles was in New Jersey on Wednesday while assistant Chris Harriman made three stops, the last in Florida." New Jersey and Florida. And two other stops. Does that give anyone any hints about whom we might have been talking to? Quote

huskerbaseball13 Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 This is pretty standard. Will give Terran a good feel as to where he's at right now. He won't be leaving this year but if he keeps improving next year I could see him being a mid first rounder. Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 This is a great thing. They will tell him their perceived weaknesses of his game to improve on for next year. Win win for him and Nebraska. Silverbacked1 and REDZONEDAN 2 Quote

Here is some speculation: New Jersey--Teran Smith Florida--the 2014 Transfer list linked in another thread includes Jerome Frink, a 6'9" Sophomore Forward from Florida International, who played high school ball for Bob Hurley at St. Anthony's in New Jersey, where he was rated the No. 5 player in the State of New Jersey. AuroranHusker Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 As to the OP, Terran will receive valuable feedback on how to improve his game to take it to the next level, i.e. All-American in college. This is great news from all accounts... Quote
Omaha Nebrasketballer Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Nothing to worry about here, as it's pretty standard practice. Every college coach does this for their players that are deemed "NBA caliber". Part of coaching these types of guys is helping them gather information on where they stand in terms of NBA GM's and execs so they can proceed with legitimate information on their draft status, and not declare due to friends and family members telling them they are ready. (Not that this is the case with Petteway, but it unfortunately is for a lot of other guys) Silverbacked1 1 Quote

FredsSlacks Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 No way he goes pro. I'd be shocked for many reasons if he did. Quote
cozrulz Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Right now he is a bit too sloppy with the ball to last long in the NBA. I assume it will be pointed out and worked on. He needs at least another year if not two to be ready. Quote
Cazzie22 Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 I would speculate, and that's all it is speculation, that Petteway would leave for the NBA IF he has a season similar to this past year. Wisconsin looked tough last night. They are not losing much of this year's squad Hayes is going to be a beast in another year. Quote
The_Vault Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Petteway would not even make a roster right now. ZERO percent chance he leaves Quote
