Loved this quote from his coach in the article Kamdy provided:

 

“He’s put on about 12 pounds since the end of last season, so the growth in his game is still ongoing. If he was a stock, I would speculate that that stock is going to be worth a lot more down the road than it is now. He is bright kid, he is number one in his class, and he is a hard worker. He has already been accepted by Princeton and UPenn, so we’re talking about a kid who has the full package.”

One thing we know is that he has a phenomenal work ethic. He understands hard work and discipline. This is a kid who's on a bus at 5:30 every morning to go 50 miles to school just so that he can compete against the best. You also can't be a class valedictorian without busting your ass academically. I'd say this kid has his priorities in the right place and is better prepared than most high school kids to handle the transition to the next level.

Made a pretty elite all-star team.  Check out the names and where they are all going.  Pretty amazing...but then again, this is what comes with living/playing in a high density metro area.

So I know some were skeptical of Tarin, is that still the case?  Serious question.  I hope we aren't taking a marginal player. 

I'm not skeptical at all. Tarin is not a mariginal player, I predict he will make an immediate impact.

Also on the First Team are two members of the fabulous Friars of St. Anthony, namely senior point guard Tarin Smith and junior forward Markis McDuffie.

Smith was the stabilizing force for the Friars all season, leading the team both on and off the court. McDuffie displayed his huge talent, one that has college recruiters foaming at the mouth for the chance to get the talented McDuffie to go to their school. All the major colleges will come calling to see McDuffie within the next year.
