Exactly why you can't look ahead....bubble Minnesota the team that is on the right side if the bubble ...while we are supposedly not even though we beat them.....laying an egg at home. Still can rally but we better show up and realize that no game is a gimmie

I think some of this looking ahead stuff gets a bit overblown.  Just because they miss 15 treys in a row and lose to a fiesty Illinois team doesn't necessarily mean they were looking ahead.  Every team in this league is hungry and is going to give em hell each and every game.  Sometimes they simply play well and win.  It doesn't always have to be because a team was looking ahead.

Well, it's only Wednesday and already my week prediction is blown.

No kidding.  Was trying to look a ahead a bit to see what the tourney might look like, but there are just way too many close games in this league to even try this far out.  Should be a very interesting tourney.

Side note, I have to think this is good for us since we play Illinois twice and Minny once.  Seems simplistic but I am not missing anything with that logic am I?

nope.  plus it keeps illinois in the "top 100" rpi's.

They looked ahead. They were out hustled and not ready to go in many instances in the game. Surprisingly I thought Illinois may throw in the towl. I can understand losing to Illinois on the road but when you are wanting to go dancing you can't have a loss like this tonight. Same for us with penn state, Purdue and northwestern at home.

I almost hate to say this -- almost -- but I've always quietly hoped that Ricky Pitino would fail up there.  He should have had to cut his teeth at a job like Mayville State and earned his stripes first, but instead he jumps from daddy's staff to the big time.  Earn it first, Ricky.   /snark.

Exactly. You also can't tell me that Michigan State simply overlooked a team that won 5 of its last 7 games in B1G conference play...

at this point, any team stupid enough to overlook any opponent deserves the loss. Everyone knows how shaky homecourts have been for everyone,  and every coach is reminding their teams before every game that you can't overlook anyone anymore. So if you do, expect the L. If we do it this week, we'll also fall victim. Both teams have already beat us, so I have to believe we won't take anyone for granted at this point.

Absolutely agree.   And so as far as our next game, call me a coward but I usually prepare myself for the worst.  You think Penn State has anything to lose ?   They have 2 guards that may go crazy in our game and sometimes there is nothing you can do to stop it.  That guard from Minny went crazy on us...did he even play tonight / is he even in the rotation still ( I didn't see the whole game) ?   You just never know what's going to happen.  I will be absolutely thrilled if we get the win, the Big 10 has been nuts this year.  I don't think we've arrived by any stretch, although this run has been incredible.

Not to nitpick but he did, albeit short, cut his teeth at FIU for a year and took a depleted team to the Sun Belt championship game last year.
