He said on 1620 that we need to win big against Penn St and Purdue. Close wins will not likely be enough at 4-1 in remaining games to get us in.

That being said, I think we focus on blowing both teams out, maybe try a little full court pressure to turn the game into a high scoring affair.

I don't think you want to get away from doing what's got you to the position you're in now. That's not running the press. If this team can stay in the moment, they shouldn't need to do anything exotic the next two games to win.

Go 4-2 and get to 18-12. That should get us the 5th or 6th seed in the B1G tournament which will allow us to play the worst team in the first tournament game. Win that game to get to 19-12. 19 wins might be enough to get into the play-in game. 20 wins would get us the 8 or 9 seed in the ncaa tourney.

20 is the magic number, but 19 gives us a slim chance of getting in.

He said that we would need to win by larger margins to move up in his system.  He didn't mention anything about our record in reference to making the NCAA tournament.

I'd rather be a 10 seed than a 9 seed.  Statistically, I think I've heard that 10 seeds beat 7s more than 9s beat 8s.  And if you win the 8/9 game, you have a date with a #1 seed.  If you win the 7/10 game, there's always a chance you get to play Santa Clara in the next round.

If Steve Nash is on that Santa Clara team I want no part of it.

I have seen 10 seeds advance over 7's but that is usually the result of a good, underrated mid-major hitting a AQ school which limped into the tournament.  Then the 10 seed has to play a #2 seed the next round.

A 12 seed would be better.  With the exception of at least one season, there has been at least 1, and often 2-3, 12 seeds beating 5 seeds.  Usually 5 seeds are either (a) overrated mid-majors or (b ) AQ schools who finished flat.  The 12 seeds are normally schools that fought to get into the tournament (whether through a strong AQ conference schedule or a rough mid-major conference tourney) and are still hungry.  Also, the 12 seed plays the 4 seed in the second which is better than playing a 2 seed which probably either won or dominated its conference.

All the boobs here in Mpls. have the Gophers as a lock for the Dance with an 8-10 Conference record. Could we finish 10-8 and be snubbed for a Gopher team we beat? I can't believe that would happen.

Minnesota isn't a more of a threat to us because they're in the same conference. They're just another bubble team competing for an at large bid. In fact, I'd prefer Minny win 10+ conference games, giving us another win over a potential top 25 RPI team.

...or Dunk City.

Good point, but an NIT bid for the Gophers gives me a year of "Smack Talk" here in the Twin Cities.
