An inch can be an incredible thing in basketball.  If this ball bounces one inch to the left instead of the right, I think our conversations would more like this....

"Great win for our program.  This is Miles' best win.  We can really build on this."

"Agreed.  We can really build on this momentum.  Petteway really took over at the end.  I seem him growing as a leader.  He really put this team on this back.  And man, what a pickup Leslee Smith has been.  The guy is a beast.  Biggs is showing he is a Big 10 caliber player.  That guy can really make things happen with his dribble penetration.  I see his confidence growing each game.   I question Miles a little bit having Webster in instead of Biggs near the end, but overall a great win for our program going forward."

"Well I think MIles said he had Webster in because Biggs missed some defensive assignments.  But Biggs was in on the last play."

"Biggs is a better creator/scorer than Tai, but I get that he was maybe not getting it done on defense.  We need to get better on our pick and roll defense.  That hurt us tonight.  Can't argue with the results though."

...a game of inches.

1-2 certainly would have looked nice in conference play.

Not to mention the current four-game skid would have already ended @3 w/ potential momentum from a dramatic W vs. an upper echelon B1G team. That's the kind of stuff that could lead to NU being 'on a roll' after another W @ West Lafayette tomorrow...

Are we having more or fewer difference of opinions on the threads?

I think the game would have been blow more out of proportion had we won actually.

The loss boiled it down to what it was....a close game that we lost when the last second shot didn't fall

The problem my wife always has with Nebrasketball when we lose a close game is always this:

"Don't worry honey, we can just beat OSU or some other ranked team we weren't supposed to."

What I always tell her is we needed to not only steal 1 or 2 games from ranked teams but also when our close games against the other teams.

Lets say we beat OSU.  That win is relatively meaningless in a vacuum.  We need to put up wins in front of and behind it to really make the win matter in terms of RPI and perception.

We have beaten Texas and Indiana and other highly ranked teams but those wins were meaningless because they were blips.

The Texas win a few years ago was actually pretty meaningful... We were right there on the cusp of an NCAA bid... what followed were the losses that hurt us.

We beat OSU, and start winning some games, the whole season outlook changes.

Other than being easily the best win of the Tim Miles era, the 2nd time we've ever played within single digits of OSU, and us returning practically the entire team next year, yes a meaningless and hollow win over a top 10 team.

Right?  It's like saying if one were able to somehow manage to coax Scarlett Johanssen to spend an evening of hot passion on a private yacht in Monte Carlo and calling it just a night of meaningless sex.

An inch can be an incredible thing

I am trying to get my wife to believe this too.   :D

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the cipsucks memorial "Dirty Joke of The Week" award winner!  :D

Winner indeed, but it never would have taken Cip 4 days to post that!

In MY defense, I tried to come up with a good one in reference to the thread title, but I just don't have what it takes I guess.  I'm sure cip could come up with gold in a few minutes...

Why not let Ladyhusker handle it to see if she can come up with a firm suggestion?

Aren't you repeating what I said?

The Texas win ultimately was meaningless because instead of using it as  springboard or instead of it solidifying our at large position it turned out to be a blip.

We had won 2 games going into Texas which gave that game huge potential.  After we won the sky was the limited.  We had two winnable games against I believe KSU at home and ISU on the road.

We lost two in heartbreaking fashion and it rendered the Texas win as a wasted opportunity.

Some of you seem to have a loser mentality when it comes to Husker Hoops.  If we beat OSU it would be a nice win sure, but how can you be satisfied with 1 win?  This is basketball where we play 30 games.  Even TCU can beat Kansas once.

The reason that the Michigan loss was so heartbreaking was because we could have beaten Purdue and then if we beat OSU we are really rolling and could go into a much easier part of our schedule on fire.

I don't want our program to be happy with 1 night with Scarlett Johansson, I want us to become a veritable mac daddy and have a new celebrity, model, orgy twice a week!

Man, that KSU game after the Texas win was one of the better atmospheres at the Devaney Center the past decade for about the first half. That place was electric.  Then Pullen did his thing. That KSU team was pretty good. Man...what could have been...

It was a heartbreaking loss.

But the ISU game after that was a 1 point overtime loss which was also heartbreaking.

This team has broken my heart for going on 14 years now.

Am I missing something? 99' was our last good team right?

We've all suffered.  Some of us much, much longer than others.  And the implication is you've only been following the program for the 14 years.  Apologies if I misread.
