I thought I would start a new thread for this year's KenPom rankings.

I tweeted at Ken Pomeroy and he told me that his preseason rankings will be released the day after the AP preseason poll is released. That should be fairly soon, shouldn't it?

Okay, well, I was planning on waiting until the new rankings came out before starting the KenPom thread for this year, but I guess someone beat me to it!  At any event, I enjoyed doing it last year and I'll be happy to do so again this year, but if folks want to give someone else a chance, I'm happy to let someone else try their hand at it.

I've copied and updated the template from last year's thread over here and updated it with this year's schedule (using KenPom's last ratings from last year) just in case you want to use it again this year.

phew. you know you're getting close to tip off when Ken Pom gets invoked around here. hard to believe we're only a couple of weeks away from another season. i can almost allow myself to get psyched now.

I can only assume these rankings were made prior to the exodus of players to the NBA. Otherwise, IU and Michigan wouldn't be that high, or Sparty that low, correct?

those are the last rankings he did last season

Not rankings for this year

Well, they're here.  KenPom for 2013-14!  Once again, we start off dead last in the B1G.  But at least this year we aren't starting off in the 200's.

Nothing much really stands out to me other than maybe how high Iowa starts off, and maybe outside the strength of the Charleston Classic, there appears to be a lot of winnable games on our non-con schedule.  In fact, it may not be a whole lot more difficult than last years

Thought I'd refresh this before UNK tonight...mostly because I'm bored and anxious for the season to begin.  Surprise, surprise, it's identical to last week's.  So, not much to talk about.

How can the RPI be out already without any games being played?

Gotta start somewhere, man!

No, seriously. Are these some sort of RPI season predictions? The RPI number itself comes from a formula that can't be calculated until games start being played. In fact, RPI rankings are even skewed useless until more than several games are played.

Here are the formula-based preseason rankings from teamrankings.com

When I clicked on the cbssports rpi link, no rankings appeared.

Yeah, I just tried it and they weren't showing up for me, either.  I swear they were there earlier...
