Yeah all the players we miss on are getting paid, lol

Maybe they aren't, but their families are. Believe what you want. Michael Beasley, from the East coast, must have just fallen in love with Manhattan, Kansas. Great place. Oh wait, no he didn't. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7156617/michael-beasley-alleges-improper-benefits-kansas-state-wildcats-lawsuit-ex-agent

Most of the top 100 players receive this treatment, in some shape or form. It's reality. I'm not naive enough to think that NU isn't trying to play the game, too. I don't know that we are (proof certainly is not in the pudding) but in reality if we want to compete with the big boys, we probably need to.

Blue Chips I think was a movie ahead of its time and doesnt get the respect it deserves.

Do you consider Deng Deng a top 100 player?

He's a top 10 JUCO recruit, I would say so.

247 has him as the 4th best Juco player. Atwood at 7 and Dickerson at 11 for perspective.

Going on a bit of a tangent here, but back in the 90's there was an afternoon sports/entertainment talk show on KOA in Denver (called "The Sports Zoo") that I used to try to tune in to whenever I got the chance.  It was hosted by Scott Hastings and Dave Logan - Hastings played his college ball at Arkansas and was a journeyman in the NBA, Logan was a two-sport letterman at CU along with playing WR for the Broncos.

Anyway, the theme song for that show was the John Mellencamp version of "Baby Please Don't Go" from the Blue Chips movie, and I've always thought that was significant, like it was Hastings' way of saying that yes, that's the way the game is played.  I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into it?

I love Coach Miles, but I'm starting to lose some optimism about his ability to close with recruits.

I know we'll never compete with the likes of KU for recruits.....but pretty soon we need to start beating out the likes of Baylor, LSU, and Auburn.  Not getting any visitors for "No Sit Sunday" was also a big disappointment.

I saw where 87% of "BCS" schools had signed their allotted classes in the fall signing period and a portion of the 13% left are guys like Turner that we would have no chance of landing.  This leaves a small amount of room to find recruits once the season actually starts.  Recruiting for hoops is usually 2 years out.  This fall is the class they attacked right when they got on campus.  If this year doesnt produce with the connections, tournament run, facilities, etc then I think we can really start to question.

That sounds reasonable.  I'm with Coach.  Nothing impressive (on paper at least) about the 2014 class.  2015 will be a better barometer of how good this staff is at recruiting.  And of course, the combination of Miles personality, plus what we have seen the last 2 years on the court (what counts most, right?) means I'm going to give the staff plenty of time to work out the kinks in their recruiting.

Oh the pain. I should never have done this but I went to the Baylor site this morning to check out Deng Deng's progress. Not only did he play against McNeese State last night but he led all scorers with 16 points in 16 minutes of play. He was 8-9 from the field and had 3 rebounds. Deng could have been our ticket to the top 10. Oh well, I'm happy where things have ended up anyway.

By the way, I also looked up Elbert Robinson at LSU. Not so much progress there yet but his is just a true freshman.

Man, what's wrong with the team we have?

Our inside game/rebounding leaves a lot to be desired.  Having another decent 6'8 guy on the roster would help

leslee might be back by conference play though.

I like our team a lot! Just pining over what could have been. Deng is much more effective offensively than David Rivers and a good rebounder too. Plus more depth. But I like who we are right now a lot!

The better we're doing, the less I worry about what might have been.  Back when we were sucking, I used to wonder how things might have gone if Roburt Sallie would have been ruled eligible, etc., etc., etc.  This year, I'm not so inclined to do that.
