This is all on Harriman for this one.  He grew up in Australia so Harriman had been recruiting him to SLU since he was 16 so the relationship has been around for several years now as Deng Deng is 21 currently.

Gotta give Miles props for how he built his coaching staff! B)

From what I understand, he basically made it a condition of employment to have strong recruiting ties.  If you didn't have them, you weren't making it very far in the interview process.  It's interesting to see how many quality kids we are in on with this staff....seems like they are everywhere scouting kids.  We have a lot of nice options for schollie #2.

If you have Smith and himself you have the coaching covered.  At that point it's about bringing in the Jimmys and the Joes

I know we can balance it out later but I'm not a fan of us filling our last scholarship with a JUCO

Deng Deng has a pretty good list of suitors, according to the Jucorecruiting.com article linked above: Baylor, Arizona St., Gonzaga, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Auburn, South Florida, Cincinnati and the University of Houston.

As much as I'd hate to such a huge junior class I would like to see him at Nebraska as long as some surprise recruit comes out of nowhere that's a better fit. Having a sf that can score and rebound is always welcome.

Kamdy, I've seen Deng listed at 6'8" and 220 lbs. Is it his style of play that causes you to categorize him as a sf?

he's a small forward just like shields is, but would probably play power forward for us.

Hammond and Pitchford are probably our centers for the next few years.

I guess it is probably just semantics but a guy who is 6'8", 220 lbs and rebounds the way Deng rebounds is a classic face up 4 to me. Either way I would love to get him.

watching his film I think his "best" position would be SF but that doesn't mean he can't play PF.  He's a guy that needs to be on a wing, shooting long range, getting dribble penetration, etc. I think for needs he would play PF but would be a luxury at SF to give us a great matchup advantage.

I would love to see Smith, Hammond and a yet to be named wonder handle the 5 spot...let Pitch get to where he belongs...if we can get there...then we have a certain tourney team!

Walt has gotten 5X better at defending the 5. Need 40 minutes of complimentary big play like we get from Leslie next year though!

When is Deng visiting???

Or perhaps this should be stated "like we were getting from Leslie".  He has reallly been scuffling the past several games.

We could honestly take atwood, dicerkson, and Deng. It would really shorten the 2015 class though. I think if we are pushing this hard after dickerson and him and atwood plan to play together Deng may be an after thought. I see the 3rd spot going to a grad transfer to fill in for minutes and open that third spot for 2015.
