The OWH is behind the times.  That was news several weeks ago.  Nothing new in what they posted other than to suggest uncertainty about if and when Tai arrives in Lincoln.

Do they administer a NZ version of the SAT?

"If a Kiwi leaves Auckland at 2 km/hr, how long will it take it to reach Tauranga if Tauranga is 216 km distant?"

"For purposes of this question, you should assume that the Aussie does NOT stop at a bar in Paeroa and get munted."

Just a brief update from the OWH.  Hopefully Tai gets his poop in a group.

Nothing to see here. Just typical OWH creighton loving BS.

So you think Barfknecht loves Creighton?

Yeah, that's a pretty silly statement.  Most of the OWH sportswriters are Nebraska alums and huge husker homers, Barfnecht included.

I assume this means that the Menke scholarship will go to....Menke.

I also assume he graduates this year and he improves our APR.

Having Menke tie up a scholarship for two years ...

That just ...

I hate to knock the kid, but ...

Wow.

There aren't enough scholarships in basketball to set any aside to give to "deserving" walkons like there is in football.  That's like voluntarily limiting yourself to 12 spots for 2 years.  Have we also put ourselves on probation and banned ourselves from post-season for 2 years as well?  You could commit some major recruiting violations and the NCAA wouldn't even hit you that hard.

This is a trick question, Norm.  There is no indication of the direction of travel of said Kiwi.

Maybe the better question is "If a particular Husker beat-writer for the Omaha World Herald is unwilling to adapt to new information gathering sources (such as social media) because he doesn't 'get what all the fuss is about', and then proceeds to get scooped (by said media source) nearly a week before he writes a story regarding a topic for which he gets paid handsomely to be an authoritative source of information on...is said beat-writer still considered relevant?"

The answer would be no.  It's usually a regurgitation of what the LJS puts out several days before.  I can't remember the last time he's brought info to the table that hasn't already been reported online somewhere.

At that rate, he should become irrelevant in roughly -2.5 x 365 x (24 + 23) hours.

I get that Miles needed the roster space to try and swing for the fences.

In retrospect, we would have been better off hanging onto Jerran Young or Fahro. (assuming a senior transfer doesn't magically appear on campus which still could happen)

Pretty hard to believe/accept that Trevor Menke is going to be on scholarship for two years. That's very disappointing, but we just came up short this year with the 2013 class. I guess I'm glad we didn't take a body just to take one, but I sure wish we at least could have found a grad transfer to join the team this year. Even someone who could give us 4 minutes per game is better than Trevor Menke.

Except, I don't think they "set any aside".  Last year was a mess, which is fairly common the first year, as I understand it as things get settled.  This year, they didn't find (or haven't found) someone to fill that scholarship that fits what Miles is looking for and I know they don't want to be filling scholies just to fill them which it seemed Doc was guilty of at times and it really hurt the program.  So, if you can't fill the scholarship with the type of guy you want, give it to the kid that will best help your APR which needs a little rehabbing anyway and everybody wins.  But to say they held it back for this purpose, I don't think is accurate.

And that's still possible.  That could happen right up until the fall semester starts.  Things shift around all the time.

With math skills like these, I'll bet we could figure out the max airspeed velocity of an unladened European swallow!
