Huskerpapa Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 ...one of the first events at the PBA will be... http://www.omaha.com/article/20130318/GO/130319313 Quote
hhcscott Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 That seems right. Mix Red and White and you get Pink. Quote
Daledangdarn Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Yeah I figured this concert would suck. I guess my prayers to revive Richard Wright and mend David Gilmour and Roger Waters relationship for the opening concert went unanswered Quote
uneblinstu Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 What a turd to open the place. It's not the opener. There will be two concerts before that one. Quote
HuskerPower #nato73 Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 What a turd to open the place. Pink is talented and a good act. BannedAccount 1 Quote

HB Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 I have 2 club seats for this one if anyone wants them. I have to admit when I got my email about the tickets from PBA, I had no idea who Pink was. Seriously, had never head of her/it. I have officially become my parents. Quote
basketballjones Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Great. Now we're gonna be cursed. Quote

It's interesting because it's also the day of the Michigan football game. It's a road game of course, but if that happens to be a night game and they go head to head, I'll be curious to see how well attended the concert is. I don't know how much cross over there is between those two groups of fans. Quote

I think her audience is broader than that and in this state and town, Husker fandom touches all demographics Are there enough parents that will take their daughters downtown for a concert during what's likely to be a top 15 matchup and has Gameday tour stop written all over it? I just think it's interesting they picked that day to have that concert. Quote

Unless the big ten changed it's rules, the latest that game will be is 2:30 due to no night games in November. As for the concert, i personally don't like it but from what I've been hearing, it's a pretty big get for Lincoln and a lot of people are surprised/optimistic that we were able to pull in an act like this. I guess she puts on an amazing show. As for selling it out, I'd say there's a 99.9% chance that it will be sold out. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Pink has a couple of songs that I've liked. Don't really care for her whole schtick, but I can listen to a couple of her songs. "Effin' Perfect" or whatever it was called is a pretty good tune. Quote

Nebraska at Michigan is very much in play for a prime time kickoff that day. Quote

Concrete Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 I hadn't heard that, that is great news. I never understood that rule in the first place. Regardless, I'm sure PBA will still be sold out or nearly sold out. If it was a home game it wouldn't stand a chance (I sincerely hope everyone in charge of coordinating these events never make this mistake), but I think we are really overestimating how much women (and some men, but I'm referring to women here because I think Pink mostly appeals to girls) care about Nebraska football. A lot of moms would probably rather take their daughter to this concert than sit and watch their husband or whomever get worked up and pissed off over a game. And a lot of girlfriends would probably rather do the same thing. I'm not saying there aren't die hard girl football fans out there.. I'm not ignorant, but I also know that a lot of girls are way more interested in the social aspect of gamedays than the actual game. The pink concert downtown would be a perfect chance for them to still tailgate with their friends but then go to the concert instead of the game, and then meet up with everyone else for post game drinking after the concert. As for me, now that I know it's on a gameday, I'll be the worked up guy that I referred to. The chances of me going to this concert went from 2% to 0%, regardless of what time the game is. But I'm pretty sure (and hope) they aren't trying to appeal to 24 year old guys by bringing Pink to Lincoln Quote
hhcmatt Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Pink is a good get for the arena. She plays at the Staples Center and some of the largest arenas in the country. I'd guess a popular country act either opens or is the second show. The opening shows are already booked, the info is just being kept until the acts are ready to announce their tours. Put me down for Muse though I'm not sure if we're big enough for that. If you're not familiar, they're currently being sampled as part of the March Madness commercials. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 The young teenybopper girl set (did I really just use that word?), at least the ones I know, would probably hope for One Direction to come to Lincoln. If they came to Lincoln, my guess is they sell out quick. There are lots of teenage girls in this town. The other one that would be kinda cool, IMO, is Maroon 5, since their bassist is from Lincoln. That would be a huge act with a Lincoln connection. Wonder if James Valentine cares enough about sending the old home town some love? And then, of course, Adele. I don't really care because I won't be going regardless but it seems like everyone I know owns an Adele CD. Quote
49r Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Pink's alright. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3xk8ADzNIQ Who'd you expect to open the arena? Larry the Cable Guy? Quote
CrazyforNUHOOPS Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 It's not going to open the arena, it's just the first announced show, third overall show. I've heard rumors that Michael Buble will be the first show on Sept. 13th. Quote

I think we might get some better shows here than many think. Quote

MichHusker Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 I would much rather see a rock band come in to play instead of Pink, but im usually in the minority with music so Pink will probably appeal to more Quote
