Since we're doing this Sidelines-- just a personal preference on how I'm kind of viewing guys from the portal...

 

Would you be able to break them out by class year? Sr/Grad, Jr, So, Fr

Personally, I would prefer a rising sophomore with upside over a rising senior with 1 year of remaining eligibility unless he's clearly starter material.

 

I want the Juwan Gary type who stays and plays 3 seasons.

Same-- the one year mercs to me better be guys who could reach all-conference level OR play a significant role. Otherwise, I'd prefer a So/Jr. This was actually why I was wondering if we could break guys out by their grad year in the original post.

We’re not in a position to be choosy this year.    
 

find the best players available, regardless of year.     Don’t waste Mast’s last year like we did Williams and Gary.  
 

Griffiths, Berke, Jankowski, Frager and Rhymes (along with Perez if we add him) all have multiple years left.      That’s 6 of 13 scholarship players.    That’s a foundation.  
 

not to mention legit players with multiple years cost a lot more and are wanted by everyone.

Yes I can order the list by older guys at the top and younger at the bottom. Fixed some years as well.  The year you see on the list is what year they will be going into this summer.  SR also means Grad for some as well.

I think we all would but if Fred doesn't make the tournament next year, he may not be here the following year.  If he can find impact players with only 1 year of eligibility left, he has to take them.

While true, Fred’s swing and miss rate seems higher for 1 and dones than the multi year guys I feel like. I don’t have data to back this up though.

Had a very Keisei-like season his sophomore year of JUCO. Will have three years of eligibility remaining. Pitch him the Keisei role.

At this point, I'm betting that most information is being passed on by player agents.  It benefits their clients by getting bidding wars started.

 

Here is the deal.  We are most certainly vetting names, listening to contacts, watching film and guaging interest.  But my guess is that WE are not leaking anything to the press.  If we are leaking anything,  it is to a select group of individuals that handle our $$$.

Cole Hargrove is 100% an agent saying that we did.  It's pretty easy to tell apart the ones we actually reach out to versus the ones agents are just trying to get the ball rolling on

I would guess Cronin had no interest in keeping him, so he left. This is a downward move from UCLA.
