For what it’s worth (probably not much) the so-called experts are saying we must beat Iowa and win at least two in the tourney (first round game wouldn’t help our metrics) to make it to the Dance.

I mentioned this last night. There is a scenario where we get the 15 seed and play Indiana as the 10 seed. That would of course require us to beat Iowa.

Should Ohio State beat IU this weekend, that is the only situation where I could see two wins for us possibly getting us to Dayton. It would mean beating another bubble team for the second time this season.

Outside of that, no first round game is going to move the needle much. So 3 wins is a must for Dayton. Hard disagree with the post above saying we need to win the whole thing. But it won’t be easy for sure.

Forget this route— playing IU/Ohio St would require us to lose to Iowa and USC to lose twice. So a win wouldn’t get us Dayton.

Carry on. Going to have to win the next 3. What’s going to really suck is winning our next two and then seeing our name pop up in the first 4 out group on selection Sunday.

They couldn't screw us out of a home NIT game at that point and send us to Mississippi so there's that.  This is sad and depressing to think about given where we were a few weeks ago.

my guess would be 2-3 bid steals this year looking at this graphic. Not confident in Drake, Irvine presents a challenge in Big West, San Fan in the WCC, and Colorado St in the MWC.

Throw in one shocker and a few of those…

No full update today and might not be one for a while as we just need to worry about beating Iowa. Let’s make the B1G tourney before we talk NCAAs.

This is mostly because other bubble teams are taking care of business and picking up huge wins. And it makes me sick to see that but we can’t catch a break and win one.

If we beat Iowa, I’ll revisit for conference tournament week.

Starting to get deep into the weeds on Big Ten seeding tiebreakers.

There does seem to be a way to get in even with a loss to Iowa (and no longer relying on USC).

That appears to be:

Minnesota > Rutgers

Maryland > Northwestern

I’m gonna call it the “George Gervin” Factor, with Brice Locked In we have a chance against anyone in that B1G Tournament.

I still get Nebraska as a 16 seed here.

I got us to a 15 seed with a loss but it appears it is dependent on Iowa beating Michigan St tonight and Minnesota beating Rutgers this weekend.  Let's just win and control our own fate!

I got to see the "Iceman" play for the ABA Spurs in San Antonio in 1974. His lifetime average for his ABA and NBA careers spanning 14 years was 26 ppg. His opponent that night was Julius Erving who played for the ABA New York Nets.

That would have been one of the high lights of my life to see those two play.

Although it was a highlight, I have also been fortunate enough to have courtside views of McHale and Parrish play against Patrick Ewing at the Boston Garden (Bird was hurt), Oscar Robertson against Bob Boozer and Jack Paar in the NCAA regionals in Lawrence, and Connie Hawkins perform for the Phoenix Suns. I'm not counting all of the stars I have counted in Nebraska, including Jordan in an exhibition game at BDSC.

Lunardi has us first four out….

We are in many. We are actually in some brackets that have been updated since our game. Our big wins are holding us up well. That's one reason why, if we manage to beat Iowa and win our first round BTT game, I'll at least be tuning into Selection Sunday.

The thing about bracketologists predicting us as the first 4 out is that they're also predicting we will be Iowa....which is why you have to win games in the BTT.

I actually don't believe this to be accurate for most bracketologists.  They usually look at resumes on an "as-is" basis.  Most don't necessarily predict/project wins/losses, it's more what have you done up to that point in time.

Having said that, if we don't beat Iowa, we are in a really rough spot - like pretty much needing to win the BTT or at least make the final.  Beating Iowa gives us a better path but one that still requires likely 2 wins in the BTT, maybe 1 more, maybe 1 less depending on a lot of other factors (bid thieves, how others do on the bubble, etc).

A win against Iowa doesn't really move the needle but a loss digs the hole a lot deeper.

Good news is (or bad news) that a loss to Iowa likely ends the season and we don’t even make the B1G tournament so we could put this thread to bed and not rack our brains on how we “get there”.

Holy Cow jimmy that is a who’s who of players I wish I could have seen.
