Few other HM offers for him so far. Liked that he left his unofficial today with an offer, tells me they really liked what they saw. He could be a plug and play starter or a sixth man out the gate. Hopefully the interest is mutual and this gets wrapped up semi soon

The on3 guys say we just didn't have enough money for him. Same with Chucky and Igor Milicic. And others.

Hopefully Fred never leaves because nowadays the first thing new coaching candidates will want to know is what the NIL budget is for basketball and they won't like what they hear.

I think the timing was off with Chucky personally. By the time he entered the portal, we already had Worster locked up. We could've kicked him to the curb for Chucky, but that's not how the staff operates I imagine.

I think with bashir, the longer it went on, the more likely it was to be a money grabbing game. Highest bidder situation, and we bowed out right away. I think shortly after he visited is when rhymes committed, so could've been a deal of "ok bashir isn't coming, you have the green light Rhymes".

Chucky got a big bag for sure. The Ville was not messing around and appears to have paid off.

Sorry to tell you none of this is accurate.

Well rollie committed on April 15th, and Chucky entered April 18th. But, Louisville dropped a massive bag for Chucky, and he committed there a week later. So even if we pursued, doubtful it was going anywhere.

Back channel non official stuff was going on I'm sure, but I'm just basing it off what I see. If I'm off so be it.

Did that guy speculate how much we have for a total NIL Budget?

I don't remember, but the people who seem to know stuff say we're bottom 4 in the Big Ten for basketball. Which isn't really a surprise to me.

Would make sense unfortunately, surprised we have gotten and kept who we have the last few years to be honest, Gary and Williams couldn’t have been cheap this last off season.

And this is all anyone really needs to know at this point.  When anyone complains about coach Fred this or coach that, forget it.  Its all about the benjamins.  Whenever Fred and Husker Hoops is recruiting a big-time recruit who has multiple P5 offers, I don't even pay any attention.  No doubt he will visit, love the team and coaches and system, and then at the last minute go sign somewhere else for more money.  Seen it time and time again.

Its actually quite amazing what Fred has done with his paltry NIL budget coming from this emaciated hoops program.  The fan support is absolutely elite.  But the financial support is total dog crap.  And until or unless that changes, we will never be better than what we are now, and that is clinging by a thread to hopefully squeeze into the tourney every few years.  Complaining about a coach who has two arms tied behind his back and two legs cut off from the knees down is silly IMO.

With that said, I sure would like more information on how things will change next year with the new rules on Athletic Department money going to players.  I have heard and read different versions and it is hard to determine if this will help NU or not.  There are so many questions:  How is the money divided between teams?  Who decides?  Does every school get to contribute the same amount or is it based on revenue of the program?  If based on revenue, is it just media revenue, or also include attendance, etc revenue?  Etc., Etc., Etc.

In the end, the only way NU would have an advantage from the new rules is if Nebraska has MORE athletic dept money available to pay players than other B1G and P5 schools.  If not, and if all schools have the same allotment, then nothing is gained and it goes back to who has the most NIL, of which we most certainly do not.

I’m kinda of tired of just taking this argument that “we aren’t paying enough” as cold hard fact. Just kinda seems to be the go-to excuse.

I will say it's not the case for most of the players we miss on. Several other factors. But it has been the case for a handful.

I don't know if Bashir would've been a Husker with more money, but after the NIL discussions on his visit, he was no longer interested.

It IS the excuse for every football transfer we miss out on. Husker fans can't fathom a player wanting to go play for Ohio State instead of Nebraska.
