2023-2024 KenPom Rankings Thread

Interestingly, we're 1 spot behind Colorado in Kenpom.

I was looking at Bleacher Report's mock NBA draft the other day and Colorado has 3 players projected to go in the top 30 picks in the NBA draft, including one projected in the top 10. Three strong contenders for the NBA draft. And they're 17-9 and 8-7 in the PAC however many. One spot ahead of us in Kenpom.

We've got no one being mentioned as NBA draft prospects right now.

Dang I was hoping for more. We moved up 5 after the home PSU win. Good points on creating some separation though.

Will be interesting to see NET movement.

Double digit victories in 3 straight Big Ten games, including a road game, when's the last time that had happened?

Not in the past 10 years from my quick research.

To be clear, I was saying I was hoping for a bigger jump in KenPom. I was obviously more than satisfied with the outcome of the game.

To be fair, we haven't won 3 games in a row very often.

Actually, there were two particular seasons I looked at. 2013-14 & 2017-18. We did it a few times, just missed on the double digit win on the road by only winning 60-51 at MSU in 2013-14. That's the B1G standard for this squad, those two seasons.

So funny enough, 2015-2016, Glynn's freshman year, they did.

- Won at Rutgers by 34

- Beat Minnesota by 25

- Won at Illinois by 11

- Bonus: Won at #11 Michigan State by 1

Thanks, Toupee. I figured it had to have been done under Miles, I just didn't check hard enough. Nice research. Let's keep this rollin' so future teams can look back to how 2023-24 ended WELL. GBR

I'm counting on NU to keep it rollin' so they're playing in OMAHA!!

There is no circumstance where we get high enough to get placed there “on purpose” imo.  There is a chance they will place is there, but if it is by design it won’t be because our resume is deserving of it.

That's why they have to keep putting up BIG wins, exactly.

Up to #43 in NET.

At 17-8 we were #53.

At 19-8 we've jumped to #43.

We're now 3-7 in Quad 1 games and 4-1 in Quad 2 with no losses in Quads 3 and 4.

Minnesota is now a Quad 1 loss. Good for them. It'll be a Quad 2 win when we beat them next.

And don't look now, but KSU is teetering on the edge of re-entering the top 75, which would make us 4-7 in Quad 1 games but only 4-1 in Quad 2 (after beating Minnesota, of course.)

As to the regular season ...

There's only one remaining chance of a Quad 3 loss and that is Rutgers on senior night, so that's not happening.

There's only one remaining opportunity for a Quad 1 win and that is at Ohio State on Thursday, 2/29 after they finish a two-game road swing through Minneapolis and East Lansing. So, they could be fighting to avoid a 3-game losing skid.

I'm already accepting the fact that we're going dancing. I suggest y'all start shpping for a nice pair of slippers when you're done with the dancing shoes.

When we hit 21 wins, I may throw on the shoes.  We have to approach EVERY game like it is our ticket to the Dance.  The bracket makers have every excuse in the book to keep Nebraska out.  I want to shut them up, and make them not have an opportunity to keep us out.

Just keep winning

I actually think they don't have every excuse in the book this season. Really only have very few left. And with each win we cross another one off their list. Here soon they will have no list left.

Decent jump for Rider and SCSU moves up into the top 300.  Iowa and Maryland swap spots but otherwise things remain pretty much the same.  It's nice to get our foot in the door of the top 40, hopefully we can stay in there.

Ken's prediction goes up to 22-9 (12-8).  Torvik does as well.

San José State falls again, this time at Boise State and drops to #242.

Here we go.

That was the 3rd of three straight wins over MSU, including two on the road. Be nice to get back to regularly beating MSU...
