What a loaded question. For me it is the replacement for years of wishing for better. I admit I really didn't think Doc would get it done here and Barry wasn't much better. I have felt and still do that we have had better players than our coaches. The threads I have been privileged to read concerning past players have made me relive and remember also realize I have been a fan all along. I don't claim to be any kind of expert on basketball but I have played thousands of games. I watch College basketball and wish pro would stick to the rules more. Thanks to all who have shared their opinions here. The best part of this board is no one seems to get picked on unless they ask for it. My personal favorite poster is Icey from the other board. I lack his optimism but admire it, same for others. Don't kick us off. I haven't been to a Husker game since Barry. But I hope to see them play. I doubt I would leave early. In short this board is fun. tux

I think this is my first post. :) Either way I live too far away to stop by for some salsa or beef jerky at the last game at the Bob. But i gives me a few more reasons to get to a game some time soon. Maybe if Atewe signs, the Huskers could play a game in Canada some time. I'm sure there's a great holiday tournament somewhere for Boxing Day! :) Well, I only found out about this board just before this season started. I wish I would've known about his board along time ago. I've been wishing there was a Husker basketball board for a long time. I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough! :-) And i have to say this board is top notch: from those who run it to the people who contribute, good guys, with positive attitudes, and good input and ideas! I don't post because I'm a busy guy with 3 young kids, and I just try to stay up to date as much as possible by reading everything if I can. But you have inspired me with your question so I'll do my best to post regularly now. Excited about the future with Miles and Co.! The best is yet to come!!!!

Okay, here's what I'll do.  New posters on this thread (4 or fewer posts) can get their bag of all natural angus jerky any of 3 ways.  The first I mentioned is our farewell bash to the Bob next Wednesday, March 6th starting at 4 p.m. at Barry's in Lincoln.  If you live in the Lincoln area and can't make that, first, shame on you, and secondly, I'll be at Ideal Market on 27th Street this Saturday, March 2nd from 11 to 3 doing a tasting.  Stop by and say hi and get some jerky.  Try the polish dogs and brats while you're there......

For those in different time zones or countries, pm me your mailing address and I'll send you some jerky.  CanadianHusker, I don't know where you got this salsa idea, but knock it off.  ;)

EDIT:

I forgot to mention. For all you virgin posters that are still out there, you have til March 6th to post here and get some jerky.  :)

I suppose I can chime in to this one. I haven't posted yet for the fact that I don't have any info that anyone would want to hear anyways. I became a big fan about five years ago as a junior in high school when I attended my first game. Ever since then I have become a huge supporter or the Big Red and moved to Lincoln for college after I graduated. Have only missed a handful of games since then. I get on the site to see if there is any new info of potential recruits, or just any news about the team. One thing I can say though is that I am getting really excited about the future of Husker hoops. The development of the players that I have seen this years makes me a huge believer in what Tim Miles can do here at Nebraska. I Never really saw any of that with the players Doc brought in. I guess that Is all I have to say for now.

Here's to a BIG win over the Badgers tonight! GO HUSKERS!!

I used to post all the time on previous boards, now with wife and children and full time job taking up a lot of my time i rarely have time to do more then troll.  Living two hours away from Lincoln also hurts its harder to use my season tickets and make it to all the games like I used to, but I am still here rooting loudly and obnoxiously.  I will certainly be attending the march 6th game seeing as most of my favorite memories of growing up in Lincoln were the winter walks to and from the Bob win, lose, rain, snow, shine I was always there.  I hope when I take my kids to the new arena they begin to form some memories of their own.

Hopefully my kids memories have more to do with actual wins rather then almosts though

Oops! Working on that quote thing. Cipsucks, I won't mention anything about the S-word. I mean the five-letter one. The four-letter one was pretty hard to control during the game. Sometimes I'm not sure if I should be thankful or not that I can still get BTN here in Canada. No, even after tonight I'm so glad for BTN.

Like for real...Of course I am a virgin poster...honest!

Yet this site keeps giving me an avatar that only looks vaguely looks like me...and this place insists that I have posted over one hundred times before!

This Whisky game drove me to drink, yet only NyQuil and a small amount of wine to any excess...and this was...the first time in my life!?!

So as I now...slowly awake, I begin to contemplate...Cip, since I am a obviously a first time poster and all...how do I get trickey enough to get this stuff?

It's interesting that a lot of people have the same excuses as me (kids and late tip off times).  I thought it was only me.  I found it was much easier to follow the team when there were no kids and two disposable incomes.  It's all about priorities.  I think I ended up getting to about 8 games this year.  Pretty good, but that number has been decreasing every year the past few years and I even live in Lincoln.  Here's to weekend afternoon noon games and that we get good enough that our games are on CBS.

I never get to games, with three kids a wife and two dogs I miss them all. Managing a Mimi's Cafe never leaves me free on game day. It always seems when I dvr a game we get crushes. Yet I still wait for the days when the tables are even. I think by year three I think we turn things around. My favorite Jerky is Sturgis brand, My wife got me hooked. Is yours better?

I love readding the debates and thoughts of others, and when I just spent 10 weeks in Arkansas and this board was the only thing that saved my sanity. I got stuck watching SEC basketball when I was off, so instead I didn't watch any.

Hey, 88, weren't you friends with McCrayzie?  You both went to Pius if I'm not mistaken.  Didn't you used to be Thunderbolts88 or something like that?  Whatever happened to McCrayzie?  I always enjoyed his posts.

Yours?  Well, yours were somewhat more ... interesting.  I recall the day you decided to get yourself banned from the Huskersillustrated hoops board.  I think you didn't like the mod so much.  That was back during Collier's days.

And, as I remember it, you did a good job of making sure you'd never be allowed back on that board again.  Let's just say your departure was memorable.  Blaze of glory, I'd call it.  Blaze of something anyway.

After following HHC for a number of years I finally took the plunge due to the recruiting board becoming members only.  I look forward to seeing if Coach Miles can recruit some jimmys and joes.  I believe this is a unique time in the program's history where we have a legit chance to change our stars.  I'm hoping Coach Miles is the right man for the job at the right time.  I haven't found a better site for Husker Hoops coverage than HHC.  Always great takes.

I've never had Sturgis brand.  When you eat it, does your wife lift her top?  ;)

Sturgis is amazing.  My grandparents send me a load of it every year at christmas.

Just a friendly reminder.  You first time (or so) posters on this thread that can't make it to Barry's next Wednesday can swing by Ideal Market on 27th street tomorrow from 11-3 and get your free bag of jerky.  You have to come see me at my table right in front of the deli.  I'll be in Husker garb. My wife will be with me.  (She's a saint for putting up with my ass for 23 years...)

For those out of area, I've yet to get any addresses via personal message.  I'll send you some jerky, but you gotta take the first step.  Kinda like your initial post... ;)

Cip, she's put up with a lot more than just your ass for the last 23 years.

Okay, I will join the conversation. First time to post on this board but use to post on older Husker boards. I enjoy hearing people's opinions and I joined so I could read the recruiting board. I choose not to post mostly because of my profession. Not that I'm an insider with the program or anything like that. I'm also an old roommate of Hugh42. Go Huskers!
