  1. I plan on checking in now and then. My biggest hope is because next years team is winning regularly. My expectations are as low as they have ever been. Eichorst is an idiot. tux
  2. This is it stated much better than I did. I really don't see Tim Miles learning how to use what he has any time soon. A local High School coach told me one time not long before Tim was hired that there is local talent. It kind of fueled my excitement when it was reported that Tim recruited Nebraska players while at CSU. Maybe we need to look for a replacement much lower than major level. At least we would have some thing to hang our hats on if they were ever able to achieve an above 500 level season(Minnesota,Northwestern, etc). I guess I need someone to explain to me why we are stuck with sub 500 coaching for six years. After all we don't really have a tradition of big time winning here. Why not reset, reload? tux
  3. It seems this discussion will continue to go on until something happens. It is sad in my book that the enthusiasm that was created by the Miles hire has gone mostly away. I can remember going to games in the past when Danny Nee was coach and the Nebraska team I see now isn't even close. The coach gets called out on this board and others after each game for his poor in game player management. I personally don't see a whole lot of difference in Miles or Doc. Both teams play poorly for long stretches and both are sub par at shooting free throws. No amount of talent will fix these things. I liked Doc and I like Tim both are losers. Get a real coach no matter where you have to go. Big money will not necessarily fix this mess. We can go into detail about the Miles era and we can find many good high lights. Maybe we can agree to disagree that he is not the one. A good coach coaches to the strengths of his teams and recruits to the strength of his coaching ability, Tim does neither. I like what the assistants have brought to Nebrasketball and think Craig Smith was a good balancing factor to Miles. I feel he knew the players better. I believe Miles is gone. Then again maybe he will get retained and super things will happen. Thankfully we have a bunch of loyal fans that fill the arena and Lincoln is getting large enough to fill it almost by itself. I believe we can do a lot better. tux
  4. Can't believe that I have a chance to say something positive. He looks like a winner and does have bigger dreams than being a one and done assistant. I can tell Tim Miles sees someone who is used to preforming at a high level with little to no resources. Familiar territory for both. Compares also to the assistant who left, some on here allude to being the program. Time will tell but I finally have had the chance to feel good about the program. tux
  5. Not to put anyone here down but there is no next year. We only have this one. I know Shavon is out for a bit but our team is no one centered. Season is not over and we have a good chance to win big going down the stretch. Some how I wish because of what we are seeing a good feeling about next season was forming. Without any developement and momentum we won't be any different next season. Get behind this team and make the returnees excited about next year, then maybe. tux
  6. I don't think we are based on nothing really. What I saw yesterday was a reality check. Our team will never play a game where they don't need to bring their A game. Michigan schooled our younger players and it showed. I believe it was an eye opener and we will see better team ball going forward. tux
  7. I will weigh in on our team. Bear in mind I haven't watched all or even most of the games. They are talented plus and had a bad night defensively against Creighton. The D will show up and that will allow the offense to move at their own pace. Back to your regularly scheduled program. tux
  8. Don't apologize. His statement made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. tux
  9. "The most obvious reason is they don't have team chemistry this season". I respectfully disagree. In my opinion, Tux, the most obvious reason is we don't shoot the ball worth crap. We're easy to defend without a true point guard and no shooters. Anyway, in my case, I have no problem believing that "maybe our team isn't that good". In fact, I came to that belief earlier than most on here. But I still don't spend much time grumbling about it, as you say, or "questioning everything and the system". I continue to have faith in Miles, and lots of patience while we improve recruiting and work to get better over the long haul. I will try to make this more transparent. Players feed off each other. When one is hot usually another gets there with them. Chemistry. Yes they aren't making shots. Yes they don't get nearly enough offensive rebounds. Yes poor shot selection. Yes poor execution. Sounds like chemistry to me. No disagreeing just saying. tux PS They might just start winning and wouldn't we all call it a change in chemistry.
  10. I believe most here would agree it is not fun to watch your team be blown out. It might be more understandable if it was a top three team or our best player was out for some reason. We have neither. Anyone who is grumbling has my complete understanding. I personally don't know how anybody could honestly look at what we have and what we have done and think we are upper anything. Losing makes one question everything, even the system. Why is it so hard to believe that maybe our team isn't that good? Maybe because we believe in their ability, maybe we believe we are entitled. Whatever it is the most obvious reason is they don't have team chemistry this season. Look for reasons all you want but there is no important reason to tear down any one person past or present to justify your sense of entitlement. We are the leftovers. There is still some good in us and it also means there was once more than plenty here. We will win again. tux
  11. Bottom line we still lost the game. We were so close. Best overall game by the team all year. Yes the B1G refs stink. They do protect their product. Not just basketball either. Watch closer. At some point the refs were not calling the same fouls. How ironic that yet another valiant come back was thwarted by ticky tack fouls. Before any one gets too upset think about this. The B1G and NCAA tournament make over two billion dollars. Our conference needs to represent well in the tournament. How are a bunch of 15-18 18-15 teams going to make the dance? Yes I could do a better job. I don't have a lot to offer on how to change the B1G dollar conundrum. I believe if we had a better record entering the conference race we would have had better shading by the league refs. Just one mans opinion. tux
  12. Tux, I'm not sure my point came across clearly if that's your take. I agree that good teams have to find a way of overcoming bad officiating. Having said that, it bugs me to no end that officials seem to get a pass when everyone else connected with a game is viewed under a microscope of criticism. We cuss at the student section. We cuss at the fans who leave early. We cuss at the band for not playing the kind of music we like (we had a thread on this last season.) We cuss at the play-by-play guy. We cuss at the security people who told someone next to us to sit down or not hang their coat over the railing. We cuss at opposing players and coaches. We cuss at our own coach for being "out-coached" and not knowing "Xs and Os" and not subbing the right players at the right time and not starting the guys we think should start. We cuss at the players on our own team for being too short or being too emotional or being too inconsistent or being too slow or being too soft or too rough or too flat on their shots or not flat enough or not having their elbows in or not passing the ball enough or not standing up to cheer their teammates enough when they're on the bench or not doing any number of other things. But, according to some, we should NEVER cuss the refs. Because cussing the refs is for losers. Even though the refs sometimes do more things to piss us off in a single game than Aaron Craft did in his entire career. But don't criticize the refs. Far be it for refs to have any sort of public accountability. They're untouchable. They should simply be allowed to continue to mess up with impunity. And no one should ever call them out. Because. Just because. Because good teams should be able to figure out how to win in spite of lazy, incompetent and inconsistent officials. Norm, I used to be a referee. Refs need to try and make a game more exciting. Cardinal sin number one is to stop a rally. I really believe I could do better, honestly. They seem to be inconsistent this year. They don't want us to have a consistent game. Maybe that is on us but I firmly believe we could get better refs. Sad to think you felt I was not agreeing with you. Scoring droughts can be reversed with a few trips to the line. Blatant fouls are called and if repeated technical fouls, and if no other resort benching of player. I am not a conspiracy person but they seem to call fouls according to league rank. As I said we could do a lot better. It does lead to players being tentative if too many fouls are called. tux
  13. Shesh Norm. Not to downplay your post because I agree. B1G officials leave a lot to be desired. Wish there was a way to ferret them out. Having said that somehow a good team has to find ways to overcome bad officiating. Ours hasn't, yet. I guess my point is would we be having this discussion if we were on a ten game winning streak? Loosing sure makes a man look inward and when you don't see that your efforts to change meet any success theres always outside. Boo refs! Honestly at this point I will be happy if the Huskers get to some kind of postseason play and take a run. Sure I would take a B1G tournament championship, but this season doesn't have to be over until its over. Thanks for posting this. I believe the B1G can afford better refs. tux
  14. Take your head out of the oven. Yes, many. tux
  15. Had the best smoked chicken enchiladas with Cips salsa on them. Snow measures just over ten inches in depth. I don't think that is how it is measured. tux
