They had a potential recruit at the game a few weeks ago. I saw Taylor showing her family and her around during pregame festivities. I have no idea what class she is or where she is from.

Perhaps we saw the same young lady.

Our Graduate Manager Taylor was showing her family around when I saw her. We celebrated Taylor on Senior Day, so I guess she will be gone. I was hoping they could find a position for her.

Not sure we are recruiting her for basketball; but it sure seems we are for volleyball.  I'm talking about the 6'3" freshman from Milford.   Her momma was a multi-year all-american volleyball player for us, and then played one year of basketball for us, post-volleyball.  You can watch her inthe championship game tomorrow.

By the way, the Millard West twins will be playing for a championship as well.  I have a bad feeling that sister #23 will be one we wished landed here

She will play volleyball in college.

Anyone know if we are looking at Stevie Harley, a freshman at Bellevue West?   Steve Harley's daughter.  He posts on the men's board occasionally.

She is certainly worth being recruited.  She plays with fire in her belly and has skills to match.

A lot of good freshmen this year.

Should offer her a basketball scholarship tonight just in case…she had over 400 kills as a freshman

Sorry already we didn't get her...Neleigh (sp) may well start as a freshman for Creighton. Deadly 3 shooter. Exactly what they recruit.

Watching Nebraska high school girls basketball championship weekend just underscores to me what a disadvantage NU WBB is at in terms of in-state recruiting vs. other Big Ten schools. I can’t think of another state in Big Ten country that produces less Big Ten-level girls basketball recruits than Nebraska does. And yes, I get that we have a smaller population base than all those other states in our conference but we produce a lot of Division 1 high school volleyball recruits. I guess at the end of the day, girls volleyball is more deeply woven into the fabric of our state than girls basketball is or ever will be. Feels like any athletic girl in our state with any kind of height gravitates to VB over BB.

But, we haven't been very good at getting the legit in-state girls we do have, Prince excepted.   That needs to get much better, IMO.

Couldn’t agree with this more. People who know me on this board are sick of hearing me indict Coach Amy for whiffing on Taylor McCabe 😁 so I won’t beat that dead horse. But missing out on the Millard West twins baffles me too. Why wouldn’t they want to come to NU and play with Britt Prince for 3 years?

What about Allison and Alexis.  They were top players in the state we got.

Fair point. But what about Molly Ladwig from Skutt? Did Amy not think she was a B1G-caliber recruit? She scored 50 against Class A Omaha Central last month! You’d think we could’ve found a use for her on the team. But no, she’s going to Buffalo of all places to play college basketball. Y’all ever been to Buffalo in the winter? Snowfall there is measured in feet, not inches.

Yes.  Got lucky on Alexis, since we weren't recruiting her early.   Didn't recruit Maly among others.   A mixed bag.

I will agree that Maly was probably our biggest miss as defined by someone who made it big and was a thorn in our side for 4 years.

We can be baffled at the reasons they won't be Huskers, but that doesn't mean that Amy did a poor job of attempting to recruit them.  For sure they were offered. Maybe it is location. Or style of play. Or the fact that CU routinely beats the Huskers.  The relative paucity of in state talent may make it more important to recruit what there is, but it also may make it more difficult with competitors having fewer to focus on.

As for the preference for VB, I think this is to be expected when NE girls grown up annually watching UNL compete for nat'l championships while seeing WBB struggle to get to a 64+ team year end tournament.

Just seen a post from Abby Barmore that DBK and Reyes was at the game yesterday for Shayla Rautenberg the Milford Fr. Daughter of VB 1st AA Lisa Reitsma. I would bet she will be at this years dream team camp.
