Damn.. this is the kind of loss that fully and utterly deflates and depresses you. The kind that makes me not want to make the effort to make the next home game... :,(

Much like the Callahan and Riley years in football I am ready to stop watching this product. I won’t stop because good fans don’t do that, but god this is becoming hard to watch over the last 11 games.

Why would Moos be let go?

Didn't we hear this before Christmas that Moos wouldn't last past the 1st of the year? and yet we are almost a month into the new year.

And I just wasted 2 hrs. of my Saturday, for this shit.

Again, just a rumor but the word around Lincoln I’ve heard is that the higher ups (green/bounds) have not been too fond of his actions at Husker events.

Has he been to any? I go to every WBB game. And the only Higher up I have seen there is Green and his wife.

If that one didn't meet the criteria of "must win", nothing does.

Arguably, 7-8 more wins gets us in. So, no, it's not a "must win" per say. But it's certainly put us in a real tight corner. Especially considering we were just talking about a 4 seed less than 2 weeks ago.

Moos wants to spend big money on facilities. Academic leaders don’t like the optics of that while the rest of the university is cutting spending. Hence the friction.

this has been happening since the 80s, though. And the AD is self-supporting, so they can spend whatever they wish without impacting the rest of the university. that's a problem with a crappy legislature that doesn't value public education.

Yeah I agree, I don’t think it’s a huge deal personally. The AD makes their money and spends their money. I think higher ups on the academic side just hate seeing sports building, while they’re cutting. But I agree with you, Moos should obviously worry about his department, which is in the green. That’s what he’s paid to do.

Exactly my feeling. My emotional investment in the program — which goes back a full 50 years — will be minimal until I see that the players care as much as I do.

YEP. yep. yep. They have to do better. This isnt a great afternoon activity exp, and keep in mind that Nebraska basketball fans are used to misery...

Voters and donors to non-sports don't make that distinction. Athletics rolling more money into the U to keep programs open would be a HUGE PR win if permissible.

His ceiling must not be very high. It’s a damn shame to think a brand new facility was built and the coach who christened it may go his entire career at Nebraska without one postseason win.

I agree. But look at guys like Smart or Miller at IU. Those guys are tremendous coaches with records of success. Until they have to jack up the athlete recruitment meter another notch. You can beat good teams with mid major teams once in awhile, but it's a whole different landscape to beat them week in and week out. It's hard for new coaches to that level to get that sorted out and reorient their networks to change that.

I'd be curious to see what the fail rate is for the "hot mid major coach du jour" hire in power fives. It's gotta be pretty high.

Well let's not go THAT far. Even Miles' worst teams could get at least 1 win in the next 11.

(But that's not saying much.)

And it could very well be without Copeland. Hopefully he’s okay but if he’s out it should not be used as and excuse for Miles.

It would be nice to have depth but apparently it wasn’t a priority.

We all knew this would be an issue, right?? We've gotten real lucky the last 2 seasons with injuries, but it was bound to hurt us (and hurt us bad) at some point.
