They look a lot better when they're hitting the 3 - when they aren't, they seem to look a little lost on offense.

 

I like our chances to steal one on the road the way we're defending the 3. And if we can get Murphy in some foul trouble - he loves to go for ball fakes - I really like our chances.

Spot on. Not having a point guard hurt them a lot and not giving that Washington more minutes is an interesting coaching choice

they're a bit jekyll and hyde on the road. we're no strangers to that ourselves. 

it's a winnable road game, and that's all you can ask for. it's up to the team to take it.

Kalscheur had 0 points tonight & Murphy only had 7, doubtful if those numbers hold at the Barn. This is certainly a winnable game tho cuz our defense travels.

Gabe Kalschuer won 3 State titles at DeLasalle high in the Twin Cities & has had a couple 19+ point games as a Frosh. He disappeared last night. Are real concerns tho are Amir Coffey & Murphy. Even on the road I think we win by double digits.

So, Kalschuer is 23-43 from 3pt while Watson is 21-44.

The most glaring stat for Minnesota losses would be those games where they can't buy a 3 and they aren't rebounding those misses well. We do one of these quite well.

I would think Watson will have little trouble taking GK out the game, and Copeland (Roby)? will probably man-up on Murphy. Should be a good test but I'll be REALLY surprised if we don't win.

Minnesota is young. I haven’t been able to watch much of them up here but I think it all starts and stops with stopping Murphy or at least letting him be the only one to beat us.

Coffey hasn’t been nearly what I thought he might be at this point but he can score.

Minnesota is young enough that I think if we can frustrate them and play smart we should be able to win.

Not a must win but I still look at Minnesota as a 6-10(in where they finish in the standings/not record)in the B1G this year so gotta win these games because the rest of the B1G won’t be easy.

I’ll try to get a feel for the team and share a better scouting report.

Some Hawkeye fan chatter about Hoiberg's availability. But his son isn't nearly as talented as the McCaffery clan, so there's that.

Every message board is chattering about Hoiberg.  Illinois Loyalty has a thread on him as well.

 

The reality is he's likely to either wait for a blue blood job (like UCLA) to become available or get another NBA or maybe G-League gig rather than try to resurrect another moribund hoops program.
