49r Posted May 21, 2018 Report Posted May 21, 2018 Here you go @Huskerpapa http://www.saukvalley.com/2015/05/15/speed-hops-required-to-clear-new-heights-in-high-jump/a66u87q/ The 6-foot-8 Roby has a top jump this season that matches his height – not too bad for somebody who readily admits high jumping is more of a hobby, a chance to hang with friends and help out the team. Basketball, which he has committed to play at Nebraska beginning in the winter of 2016, remains his No. 1 priority. Swan88, Huskerpapa and hhcmatt 1 2 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted May 21, 2018 Report Posted May 21, 2018 Yup, in fact I believe it was either Brady or perhaps his high school coach who actually floated the topic. Quote
B-town hoopsfan Posted May 21, 2018 Report Posted May 21, 2018 He himself said in an interview that redshirting was likely I think. Other schools that were recruiting him wanted him to go to prep school was the rumor Quote

And if he doesn't redshirt, he's probably going to struggle quite a bit. Quote

If he doesn't put on 20lbs of muscle, he'll get broken in the post. If Copeland is back, I would assume Heiman redshirts and does nothing but gain weight. If not, I still think he will be a pleasant surprise. Give him time though and I think he'll be a heck of a player. For a comparison, see Frank Kaminsky's production at Wisconsin. Their HS films/skillsets/size are pretty similar. 6'10", 220lbs. Mostly mid-major offers except for Wisconsin who saw a worthwhile project. Also, Brady is a very good and willing passer and plays well within the offense. There's a lot to work with. Edited May 22, 2018 by LK1 ShortDust, AuroranHusker and 4huskers 1 2 Quote

Then maybe you can answer this: Here's a link with his high jump results this year. It seems sporadic: ranging between 6/1" and 6/8," with just about every number in between and a 7" difference in one week's time. What accounts for that variation? Was there an injury? I wouldn't call that sporadic. Before districts, he had 8 meets, all within 4 inches of each other. He followed this up with a season-low and then a season-high. While a little unusual, he ended the season with a PR, not atypical for someone who probably doesn't focus on track full-time. Swan88 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted May 25, 2018 Report Posted May 25, 2018 In this morning's Tunnel Talk, Robin Washut provides details on progress Brady has made in the weight room over the past two months since basketball season ended. It's encouraging stuff! Quote

fred1212 Posted May 26, 2018 Report Posted May 26, 2018 His reach is 104" . Is that before or after. I'd like to see it at least 110" by his Sophomore year. Swan88 1 Quote

Silverbacked1 Posted May 26, 2018 Report Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) Those are good numbers because of his height.. Most guys who are big weight pushers are either pretty small, 5'8"-5'11" and thickly muscled or if they are giants are ridiculously thickly muscled that it is cartoonish. Swan88 Posted May 26, 2018 Report Posted May 26, 2018 On March 23, Brady high-jumped a personal best of 6’7”. Two months later (on May 18), while weighing 11 pounds more, he high jumped a new personal best of 6’8”. Somehow, that seems like a very-good development all around. Quote
Fullbacksympathy Posted May 26, 2018 Report Posted May 26, 2018 That's great improvement for a couple months. Seems to be in line with the quick improvements he's made in the last 1.5 years on the court. If he's 220lbs by November, I think he'll be a tough call for the staff as far as redshirting. Gonna be a good one. Swan88 1 Quote
royalfan Posted May 28, 2018 Report Posted May 28, 2018 just hope his touch doesn't become lost with the strength. We have had issues with that over the years. Quote
