Nothing that's released publicly will ever add up to his decision. He wants out, even if it's the wrong decision.

I hope TM gets a warm body to play the guard spot, its definitely needed.

Nick Fuller is a warm body...If we are going after someone, they need to be able to win playing time over what we already have.  At this late date, I am unsure if that person exists.

As a guard, I don't think Fuller can be considered a warm body.

He is pretty unlikely to be a complete NBA player. He simply doesn't have great lateral quickness. I can certainly see how he can play in the NBA though. It is as a one trick deadly 3 point shooter that will get nose dirty on the boards and will work to try to improve his defense. Trying to showcase his handles a bunch would be a detriment, not a positive for him. Us getting him a lot of looks from deep would have helped both him and us. Frustrating situation.

So on The Drive yesterday, Washut said that White wants to go to a team where he will serve MORE as a three-point specialist like he would in the NBA... A better team where he'd have a specific role, versus here where'd he'd be asked to do a lot more.

I ran into Gandolfo's in the middle of the segment, so I missed some of it, but that's the gist of what I heard.

That would make a lot of sense, but think he could have done that here.  Anyway, I was under impression by some comments here, that he wanted to handle the ball more.

He's even said it himself.   Which is the crazy thing.  And I agree...his avenue to the league is his perimeter shooting...not handling the ball.

White is very image driven and it doesn't look that great to say your team just wasn't good enough to showcase you in a manner that you think will get you into the league.  To me it seems misguided to want to pigeonhole himself in college because that's where you think your success lies in the NBA.  In other words, who do you see drafted in the NBA that was a college role player unless they had a ton of upside?

At the end the day White does all this and he still ends up as a D-League guy who maybe makes it onto a roster if he can improve his speed.  Too bad.

Yup....even though we have talent at the guard positions what happens when 1 of those 3 guys gets in foul trouble or injured?

That's debateable.    He struggled to find time as a 9th or 10th guy on two pretty bad teams.   He's a guy who is supposed to be a shooter but isn't a good one.   Even further so as a guard and not a role player at a wing/stretch 4

If we don't get another body that is serviceable, which is likely, and our three true guards stay healthy, I don't think we absolutely have to have another guard.  Even if we have foul trouble, if we only have one of the them on the floor (let's say Tai) we could still have Jack/Roby play the 2/3. Can Jack guard a 2???? Maybe Roby will be solid defensively and can guard a 2.  He looks to be long and quick to me.

These guys don't have to bring the ball up the floor, unless we're in a press break, so I could see Miles going:

Watson

Roby

Jack

Morrow

Jacobson

Now that is a fun line-up!  Is it do-able.... yes.  Would it work???? IDK......

I wish the best for Andrew.  But for me, he's moved on and so have I.  He's a 23 year old who can't seem to make up his mind what's best for him.  I hope he finds it.  I'm more focused on a certain 24 year old in my life who knows exactly what he wants and it ain't about a career.  :)    I'll never get back on this soapbox again.  Peace out!

I still remember Fuller's highlights vids full of him raining threes, and wonder where that went.  I think his problems are above the shoulders.  Would love to see a switch flipped this year, a-la Webster.

Perspective is everything. I agree he's gone, lets go win some games without him!

Been thinking.  At the time AWIII signed with us, TP was going into his junior year with 2 seasons of eligibility and no sure bet to leave early for the NBA.  Had TP stayed through his senior year and played out his eligibility, Andrew White doesn't remotely put up 16 ppg last season.  The only thing that gets AWIII into the NBA discussion is his productivity this past season without Petteway in the lineup.

We'll never know the answer but we can probably speculate all we want to, and so here's the question:  If Petteway had stayed for his senior year, would Andrew White have stayed for his?

I'm just thinking if he's sharing shot attempts with a very-high-volume guy like Petteway, there's no way AWIII has the opportunity to post the numbers he posted last year.  And if he doesn't post those numbers, NBA is not on anyone's radar.  I would suggest it's only BECAUSE TP left early that AWIII had the chance to put up the kind of numbers that made him think he had a shot at getting drafted and now needed to look for a better NBA showcase opportunity.  It was TP leaving that gave AWIII the chance to shine, which put the stars in his eyes.  I think he might still be here if this year was his chance to step out from under TP's shadow.

Hmmm...not sure about that. Wasn't there a story about Petteway taking so many shots because he had to? Other than Shields, that was about NU's only option, at least consistently. NU doesn't/hasn't run a system that fits what Tai's skills are, so he wasn't gonna carry any of that. Pitchford was MIA. It was Petteway, Shields and hope someone had a hot hand. I think if AW3 had had a season with TP, he would have put up similar numbers to what he did last year AND opened things up more for Petteway. I think it would have benefited both to have had a year to play together. I think I reject the premise.

It seems to me that White left Nebraska because if the blame can't be put on himself for not getting into the NBA, it must be Nebraska. Thus, if enough blame could have been put on TP and Shields blocking his way, two people who would then be gone, then it's possible he might have stayed.

AW3 definitely would not have put up those numbers if he was on a team with Terran AND Shavon.

Terran would have still gotten his and my guess is that both Shavon and AW3 would have regressed to the 12-14 point range.

No way we have three 16+ PPG on one team.

There's only a certain number of offensive possessions in a 40 minute game, though.

If Petteway is able to score more readily because of Andrew White being on the floor, who gets fewer shots?

It's going to have to come from somewhere.

Does Shavon drop under double figure scoring?

Look at our NCAA tourney year where you have Gallegos. You probably see 2014 level usages for TP and Shields and you see less 2pt shots from White. TP would have taken a lot of the time allocated to Tai, Benny, and Glynn while basically relegating Jack to mop up duty.  The thought of TP as Point Forward with White and Shields is pretty interesting though.
