I know I'm in the minority but think this team will be better than last year and more enjoyable to watch. Yes, I know we don't have alot of experience coming back but think Fred did a decent job recruiting and filling in pieces we need. I can see us going 7-4 at worse in the non-conference and potentially 9-11 in conference play to finish at 16-14. If you do that and then sign kids like Parker to come here, things could start trending in the right direction to the point we all expected when Fred was hired.

Seems like the basketball equivalent of blowing a game to Georgia Southern in year 5.

He does have stability here in a different sense. A lot of family and friends in Nebraska, where his dad is from. We could really use this great young man on and off the court.

I personally don't see much more than like a 11 and something record. However, much more scrappy, team-oriented, watchable product. Non-con is just too tough and we won't have enough experience or guard-scoring ability to compete in the Big 10.

Yeah he's done barring a miracle. OR so much is seen from the young guys that it seems like something serious/real is brewing.

Even if the product is more watchable and team-oriented, 11 wins isn't enough to retain FH at that point, and I'd assume you'd agree. He's in a pretty deep hole.

Years and years of completely ignoring recruiting OL and DL players has certainly paid its dividends. Why our coaches think that skill positions are the only ones worth recruiting talent to has been just baffling to me.

Cool as I googled him and follow him on Twitter and could find nothing saying he cut his list to 3 schools. Even sites like Rivals still have noted he is down to his top 5 schools. Thanks for sharing

Hoiberg's not getting fired in the middle of the year. He's got too much class for that, as does Trev.

Again, he sounds like a good guy and player. We shall see how those words turn into positive action on the court.

I hope you're right, but I, unfortunately, don't think most of the problems with the front 6/7 are fixable. The defensive tackles simply aren't good. I think the LBs are panicking because they constantly have offensive linemen coming at them because the DTs are getting handled one on one. Plus the interior DL is getting pushed backwards 2-3 yards regularly, right into the LBs laps, which makes it nearly impossible for them to get clean looks at the running backs. Offensive linemen don't have to double anyone up front, and they rarely have to even chip before going to the 2nd level. So, to me, the LBs look like they're panicking by trying to get to the hole before an offensive lineman can block them. They're choosing the wrong hole a lot. Maybe we can pinch our DEs in tighter when we're running 4-3, rather than having them line up so wide, and make them more part of stopping the interior run game. We're then in trouble on the edges, so you might have to cheat up a safety. Chins loves that 2-high look, though. Maybe play bigger with more 3-4, and get the nickel out of there, although we tried quite some of that vs N Dakota, and it wasn't all that effective vs the 4-3 at stopping the run. We just don't have enough DT bodies to run 3-4 the entire game, unless you're going to play Nelson as a very undersized one of the 3. Maybe we need to slant our d line more or run more stunts - something to give them the ability to escape straight-on blocks, because they cannot disengage on their own. We tried a couple of slants vs Ga Southern, and it was just as ugly as the base run defense, but maybe they can clean it up by working on it more. The sad part is we really haven't played a team that wants to run the ball over and over, other than maybe NW once it got the lead. Those teams are still coming. Could be a loooooooong November. On the Ga Southern rewatch, we tried a lot of stuff Saturday with games up front to try to help the DL, but nothing worked. We got burned bad against N Dakota by trying to bring a safety up in run support, so I think Chins was leery of doing that vs Ga Southern, but they may have to go back to it. Maybe they have to let the LBs just focus on the run game and use the safeties more to cover slot receivers. Something, anything, to get some no-gains or TFLs vs the basic run game between the tackles on 1st and 2nd down. It just looks pretty hopeless up front to me right now, though.

Yep, I absolutely agree with this. That was the moment I checked out on Frost for good. It was obvious that he was severely overmatched as a coach at this level on that day. I also remember thinking how hilarious it was when the CU students rushed the field after beating us in OT, like, these people wouldn't know a good (or in our case horrible) performance by a football team and coaching staff if their lives depended on it! They had no business celebrating like that, they should be ashamed it took them overtime to beat us. They were only celebrating because it was *Nebraska*.

Considering I think we're even going to have a hard time with Omaha, I do not agree with this.

You're starting to hear stuff come out publicly about how mediocre of a job Frost was doing that makes the decision to fire him less of a question about why we didn't wait until Oct 1st and more of a question about how lucky was Frost to still have a job this year.

I don’t expect a radical jump from 13 to Top 5, but if we aren’t hovering near .500 I have no problem parting ways…
