  1. Baseball13 says above: Well according to a poster on the UVA board his dad is doing some contracting business at Tony Bennett's house and Tony says Chukwu to UVA "is a done deal." Let's hope his dad is full of poop. Ouch. That report hurts. While second-hand hearsay (heard it from someone who heard it from someone else) isn't admissible in court, it's pretty solid stuff for basketball message boards. However, here's hoping that such from-Coach-to-father-to-son information has the same reliability as this little gem published a couple months ago during the Anton Gill recruitment days: Sources indicate that "Louisville transfer guard Anton Gill is close to committing to Georgetown, with a formal commitment possible as soon as tonight. Gill visited Georgetown over the weekend and word is that he impressed the coaching staff both on and off the court."

  2. What about Michael Jacobson?? Don't see him listed on roster.

  3. This I would be floored if he ended up here. He has to end up here. Norm has already put him in his "Experience Returning" thread on the main board.

    Ed Morrow out?

Excellent news! Hoping for a speedy recovery. Espana awaits. He'll be up and kicking in no time

  6. I just looked at the WBB Roster. It's the same layout as the men's except no weights listed. Why would that information be important for the Men but not the Women? This is college Basketball, not Teen Beat Magazine.

    New Huskers arrive today

He's listed as #12 Jock Farmer was correct as it was not showing up earlier. I emailed Shamus McKnight and he fixed it. There JF, now everybody won't think your blind! It was a good catch. Keep posting.

  8. They haven't updated the weights of the returning players yet Also, at this point our heaviest player is BJ Day. I suspect if BJ had wanted to, he could have made a living in a different sport if he'd gained another 70 pounds (which I believe he could easily do) and learned to block. The kid is built like someone who will have trouble keeping weight off his entire life. He's the kind of guy who wouldn't have a lot of trouble putting it on. He's athletic enough and moves his feet well enough that, with some size, he could have been an OT who plays rather than a PF who watches.

  10. Syracuse was also mentioned awhile back as an option. Could be off here but I believe most of his visits were/are out of courtesy/wanting to tell coaches certain things in person and/or to see the countryside. I've been told that this is a 2 horse race and that we are one of the horses. And the other is? I've been told Virginia. So we'll see how straight up my info is shortly. Hopefully. Was also told that he went on the Kansas visit to specifically tell the coaches in person that he would not be going there. We'll see. Well according to a poster on the UVA board his dad is doing some contracting business at Tony Bennett's house and Tony says Chukwu to UVA "is a done deal." Let's hope his dad is full of poop.

    Returning experience

Paschal Chukwu. Or, failing that, Diamond Stone de-commints from Maryland and comes to Nebraska? No, it's Paschal Chukwu. I was thinking in my head that if Chukwu does come here, it would mean we'd have 6 guys in that class, which is about half the team. I just got ahead of myself when I posted what I posted above because obviously Chukwu hasn't committed yet. But, if he does, I can certainly live with it considering who the six players in that class would be. And, given that scenario, consider that 5 of the 8 newcomers would be 4* top 100 type guys. Yes, new to the team and (relatively) new to the college game, but still. Not a terrible problem to have...

  13. I think there is a better chance that the NCAA disbands than we have a 6 man graduating class in 4 years.

  14. Wouldn't that be something if NU did have a solid sextet develop together during that time-frame? Imagine the things they'd accomplish as a group of great players, getting better each & every season, making history. It'll be a fun ride, let's see what happens once Chukwu arrives!

  19. Broken down by class ... We have two total seniors, two juniors, three sophomores1 and six freshmen. SIX freshmen! So, do you redshirt any of these freshmen or do you just have a HUGE senior class in 4 years' time? Questions to ponder in the month of June. 1 Anton Gill is essentially in the sophomore class because he'll be a junior, eligibility-wise, next year and join the current sophomore class of Nick Fuller and Jacob Hammond.

  23. My takeaway is that experience tends to be an underrated factor in determining success. Players with more of it have an advantage over even more-talented players with less of it. Shavon Shields has the most of it, but he'd be starting no matter what. So, you look at our freshmen coming in and you say, yeah, they're highly-recruited and all, but those kinds of players don't necessarily always come in and start right off the bat. They don't just automatically leapfrog players in front of them with more experience. And that is certainly true. But who do we have in front of Ed Morrow? What returning player with more experience is going to keep him off the floor? Bottom line? I'm saying the newcomers are going to play early and often.
