  1. I am just going to say... I do not care how he got into the top 150. He obviously did enough to impress someone enough to make it there, and this is a BIG pickup.

  2. Well geez....if they are taking him to the UNO vs. Creighton soccer match, we don't stand a chance. I wouldn't be surprised if he committed right there at halftime of the soccer game. No way can our practice facility, new arena, or a Husker football game compete with that. I hope he is laughing all the way down I-80 and thinking what a waste of time that was.

  3. I can imagine the pitch now Miles: Leon this is 85,000 soon to above 90,000 people going insane for a meaningless non con game, can you imagine the atmosphere when were undefeated with Michigan State rolling in here and a shot to clinch the division a play Ohio State in the BIG TEN title game. Leon: no coach this is crazy Creighton showed me some lame soccer game and their blueprints for their facilities when i may not even be there anymore, Miles: Now Leon, imagine if you come to NU, 2014 were rolling after a pretty good season NCAA tourney appearance second straight season of sell outs and we play Michigan and Ohio state fresh off of sweet 16 appearances in the first games of the year at Pinnacle Bank Arena...imagine that atmosphere Leon: speechless, nods head commits to NU then and there. To play devil's advocate, Creighton could point out the fact that they're coming off something Nebraska's never even seen...

  4. Bolden hasn't even said anything publically about Nebraska to indicate we are a contender. The article about him brought up an interesting connection, but it is just speculation. I think he is going to be a guy who is out of our league. Either way, we won't lose out on him due to not having a spot. If he wanted to choose Nebraska (a gigantic if), he would have a spot.

That is true but I'm hoping that we soon add men's soccer as the B1G has many good teams.

  6. If Miles views Wacker as a better prospect than Miller, I'm not going to second guess him. Our coaches have earned the benefit of the doubt up to this point. We should all be able to agree on that.

  7. I'm saying 2-3 and likely two to leave at end of year.

  9. Miller, Gilmore, and Bolden are the three I think we should hone in on, at least from the names that have been mentioned so far. I like our chances with Miller and Gilmore, Bolden is a long shot but i think Harriman could pull it off if a few things go our way (ie some of the bigger programs inquiring fill up). If 2 (or somehow 3) of those guys want to commit, you find a way to make room IMO.

  11. Geez Actuary...you are over-analyzing. You would think you analyzed numbers and stuff for a living. Take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment!

  12. Curious to read Robin's report on it later tonight!! A big pick up for Miles! Hopefully Gilmore sees this and wants to be the next top rated commit!

Nope. And FWIW, I am in the same boat. I mean, sure, football's gonna be good and all, challenge for the league title, yadda yadda...but what's happening in hoops is just downright thrilling!

  15. If Benny Parker is getting significant minutes this year, I'll be shocked. If he has improved that much, then good for him. Last year, he had every opportunity to prove himself and it seems like he got worse as the year went on. You could tell he lost confidence in himself. If Miles has the chance to get a better player here in 2014 class, I wouldn't be surprised if he would pull Parker's scholarship and give it to one of the potential recruits if needed. Benny seems like a great kid but from what I've seen of him, he might be better off at a D2 school.

  16. I think if Benny earns the playing time, it would mean that he has improved his game quite a bit...that isn't a bad thing, but it would be a bit surprising to me. Benny has a lot of heart, and can do some good things, yet he had some pretty glaring holes in his game that was exposed by conference coaches. At points last season, Benny was left unguarded. That is certainly not a rip on Benny. The kid could have left, but instead he stayed with the hope of improvement. I would not be shocked if Benny redshirts. We will see.

  17. I would say Webster still has more big game experience than Biggs does. Olympic qualifier>Juco You have to remember that Parker was the only scholarship point guard on the team last year, and he was barely even getting playing time by the end of the season. I think Biggs and Webster can provide a lot more than Parker. I think you are pretty limited when you are 5'9, an average ball handler, average shooter, and an average athlete.

  19. The SB Nation site BT Powerhouse (the one dedicated specifically to B1G hoops) which has laid dormant for a couple years has come back from the dead and is now looking for contributors: http://www.btpowerhouse.com/2013/8/6/4594050/big-ten-writers-wanted If you're an aspiring sports writer and are interested in providing a 'sker perspective to this blog, I'd encourage you to apply. I read SB Nation blogs every day and they often have very entertaining/informational blogs available. Full disclosure, I am in no way associated with SB Nation, I'm just a fan and like to read the blogs. ---dimes, please remove if you think this is too spammy---

  21. Man, this excites me. Actually being able to debate who the starters will be is way better than "Hey! You five with uniforms, get in there!" And that's what we've had the last few years. Guys who started by default because there were no other options. Not only will we be returning potential starters over the next two years but there will be legitimate competition in the backup roles. Substitutions no longer mean just surviving a stretch of time because the reserves can play ball too! This season we get to really watch Miles coach and see what he can do. Multiple lineups. Multiple multiple-position players. Hopefully it all results in a multitude of wins!

  24. Jacob played for Sunrise Christian Academy last year so saw him play numerous times. His playing time was somewhat limited because of how deep the Sunrise roster was. He would be adequate but not a game changer. He does have soft hands and jumps better than Diaz. It is hard to judge his scoring ability in that he had so many other team mates that were better scorers. He is a pretty good passer though and rebounds quite well. I do believe a few more pounds would help him. I could see him doing some of the things we would want a post to do although I do not see him as a big scorer. I will try to keep you all informed next year. I know he was being watched by Oklahoma. The Oklahoma coaches were in attendance several times. On an average team Jacob would have probably gotten more playing time but Sunrise was one of the better Academy teams in the nation only losing once to a Dallas Texas team on the road before beating them at home.
