So we have 2 seniors and the one open scholarship. 3 spots to fill right now for 2016. Right now 1 scholarship is spoken for by Roby, correct? Seems like plenty of time to reel in some more talent. This is the time of year we will start hearing more about who we are zeroing in on and they can't even sign until November. Not too worried yet.

Correct

Anyone else a bit disappointed right now for the 2016 class?

Do you think we should have it filled?

Filled, maybe. The next month is when lots of Domino's start falling, and I just don't see a ton of 16 kids that I would think are close. At some point we should fill our scholarships. What we will likely see now is Nebraska work down the list a bit as guys get crossed off.

Agree the self imposed sancations needs to stop and not just filling a spot to fill it.  That said, not worried yet about 2016.  I will start to worry if we missed on all the bigs we go after again this year.

Commits for the 2015 class that occurred in the 2014 calendar year, according to Rivals, are as follows:

7/31/14 Michael Jacobson committed

8/31/14 Glynn Watson committed

9/22/14 Edward Morrow committed

By comparison, we have Isaiah Roby already committed. So, this topic string is at least a month or two premature.

Both of the last two ware after visiting for football games. Look to see who they bring in for BYU and probably Wisconsin. Those are the games we'll probably bring in our biggest recruits for. We have hoops recruits at most home games each year, though.

Hoping that's the case, over 1/3 of the Rivals 150 have committed to date.

What?! There are only about a hundred of them left?!

And, oh wait, we already have one of them committed to us?! And we need two more? Looks like the math is right on track for Husker recruiting.

Hey, lets enjoy the journey a bit. Life is full of risk, but it will work out. This worrying for-the-heck-of-it is a drag.

Worried?  No.

Surprised at the lack of information and relative silence?  Yes.  Perhaps the staff shakeup has had an impact.

With the AAU season over, this is when offers to 2017 kids tend to go out en masse, yet we've heard very little on that front.

Noob here   so don't know about prior recruiting, but it seems under Miles recruiting cards are being held pretty close to the vest.  Maybe he doesn't want to publicize who he may be in on, or exposing any hidden gems he's found too early.  Seems like MBB recruiting is like that; everyone seems to be looking over their shoulder to see what everybody else is doing! (and 'me too' offers.)

Not a big fan of zillions of offers, most of whom will never visit anyway. ;)

Disagree completely.  Under Miles we have generally had a pretty good idea who he is pursuing.  I also completely disagree that "close to the vest" is how MBB recruiting is generally handled.  There are constant tweets about kids getting offers from schools - you just have to look for them.  I suppose if one is more accustomed to FB recruiting, there may not seem to be as much info about MBB recruiting, but that is a probably due to volume - FB recruiting classes are much larger (20-25 kids vs. 2-4 kids); MBB recruiting is certainly not under the radar or "close to the vest".  In fact, because most AAU coaches like to publicize the offers that kids get, you could make an argument that MBB recruiting is even more out in the open and talked about than FB recruiting.

That is kind of my point!  There is information, but via tweets from prospects, third parties, and other interested parties.  But I don't remember seeing much from the University or Staff until after it is 'Official' or there is a 'Commitment.'   I guess I just must not be in the loop.  :o

The staff can not officially name any particular recruit. If you notice the football staff on twitter, it's very strategic & non-specific...

Look at 2016 guys on this board... Not a lot of info. This is when lots of dominoes tend to fall, end of AAU and before school starts. I just don't know who that is. I was really hopin for Benson. Signing day, is in November, (early period).

I'm seeing a whole lot of dominoes yet to fall. Unfortunately I'm not sure if any of the big man dominoes are going to fall our way again.. a lot of competition for them. Otherwise we're not going to have near the action filling 2 spots like we were filling 4-5 spots like last year.

Or . . . the Huskers could follow the Iowa approach--lock up two in-state guys like these:

--a high school power forward from Spirit Lake without any stars: none from Rivals, none from ESPN, and none from Scout.

--a high school small forward from Dubuque with Rivals three stars and 133 ranking, a Scout three stars with no ranking, and no ranking or stars from ESPN.

Would that make us feel better?

Now, don't get this wrong: I'm sure there were late offers and interest from quality schools before each committed and that each is an excellent prospect. But imagine the consternation on this board and the hee-haws from other-school fans, if that were the case for us: "That's worse than Doc," would be the cry.

You don't see anything from the University or staff because it would be an NCAA violation for them to comment, not because they like to keep recruiting "close to the vest."
