Dylan Talley says our three most athletic players are sitting out this year.

High praise for Pitchford and Peteway from Brandon Ubel. Sounds like they've both been impressive in practices. Petteway for his constant motor, ability to slash and get into the lane. Pitchford for his athleticism, strong rebounding, and being a better shooter than people expected.

As scout team players, they push the starters. Like playing a D1 game every day in practice because, for the transfers, practices are their games and they want to win.

Miles says they really push the starters but says all three have holes in their games that need work and, now that school is out, they're going to be getting some individual work to fix/improve those things.

Good news for next year, anyway.

Sort of reminds me of my college days when freshmen were ineligible. The freshman team with JoJo White and Ron Franz would beat the varsity so badly that the KU coach (Ted Owens) stopped letting them play each other.

The smart ass in me hopes those three will be able to adjust to D1 competition quickly next season..... ;)

Niiiice, Cip. Niiiiice.

Seriously, though, there were some encouraging quotes in there, if they're true.

"He (Petteway) can shoot it, he can dribble and drive. He just does everything well," Ubel said. "But the one thing he does better than anybody is he plays hard 100 percent of the time. Walter's pretty much the same way. He plays hard all the time, but he's ultra-athletic, ultra-aggressive on the boards, so he does a lot of things. And, obviously, Deverell, he's just lightening quick. He gives a lot of people trouble, offensively and defensively."

Man, if only all of that is true. And, if it is, if we can just land another quality big for next year, we would be in pretty good shape.

I have just been to one priactice this year and the comments in the article are consistant with what I saw that day. To add, both Biggs and Pitchford have incredible ups. Petteway looks like a natural scorer. Great first step and quick for his height. Also has a very good mid range jumper and can get to the hole with ease. I will try to get attend another practice next week and will report more if possible.

This makes me happy. Kind of reminds me of the stories that went around (in I believe) 89-90 when some of the redshirts used to p*** off the regulars by schooling them in practices. I am not completely sure of the year, but practices were supposedly salty to say the least.

We definately need another big. It would have been nice if Tim could have kept Fahro for this year but especially for next year. I know he had another issue, but he would be a great help for the team.

Pretty much spot on with what I've heard on Petteway. Non-stop motor
