How else do you explain the school's ability to attract top talent without achieving significant on-the-court results. https://twitter.com/ebosshoops/status/588915158732447744 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote

Minnesota_Husker Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Interesting 30 for 30. Felt a little bit like Sonny had to write off on everything and wouldnt take blame for his part in ruining the college game or admit he was basically scum. Not the best 30 for 30, but it did shine a light on corporate involvement with "Amateur" athletes and how main decision makers in these kids lives were basically getting paid lots of money to put kids in different sneakers. The Lebron deal at the end was very interesting. Imagine how things could have changed for Adidas if they signed LeBron. Quote

I thought it had to do with the Germany company not particularly wanting to sign individual players in an American sport. As in they misunderstood the marketplace... Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Adidas owns almost all the Euro market. Nike has some but the majority of the players wear Adidas and Puma. At least that is what I saw when I have been over seas. Quote

That's an additional factor in a series of mistakes Adidas has made in the U.S. If you have a subscription to WSJ, here's a good link on the topic: http://www.wsj.com/articles/how-adidas-aims-to-get-its-cool-back-1427072066 "In 1984... Michael Jordan wanted a sponsorship deal with Adidas when he went professional... But executives in Germany decided shoppers would favor taller players and wanted to sponsor centers... Handy Johnson Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 The best hoops shoes EVER were the Converse All-Stars like Dr. J, Magic, and Larry use to wear. NOT the Adidas Top 10 (even though they were cool) and certainly NOT the Nike Air Jordan's (wildly overrated then and now). Quote
Navin R. Johnson Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 I remember when the Adidas top 10's came out. I was in high school then and nobody would believe that people would pay $65.00 for a pair of basketball shoes! I think that was the first real "expensive" shoe that started the boom in prices. Man, Converse went from THE shoe to almost out of the market overnight. Quote

Two pair of socks, the inner sock against your skin was inside out somthe insides took the friction between the socks. Also Vaseline your feet every game and practice to keep down the blisters. Quote
