According to his profile on the Providence website, Tyler Harris was "[r]ated a four-star ESPN Recruit and was ranked the No. 20 power forward...As a senior averaged 19.7 ppg and 9.8 rpg."

his brother is tobias harris of the Magic

According to Lee Barfknecht:

"The Huskers, sources said, are gathering information on but not yet fully recruiting two possible fifth-year graduate transfers — 6-9, 223-pound Tyler Harris from Providence and 6-9, 245-pound Rafael Maia from Brown."

Hmmm, the 3rd leading scorer on the #30 team in the nation vs. the 5th leading scorer on the #261 team in the nation per Pomeroy.

That sort of comparison is pretty meaningless.

I think Harris would be a good get as well, easily with higher upside than Maia though i'd suspect the floor is lower.

His problem is that he's Pitch 2.0 though at least he plays inside.

I'd suspect there is little downside to pursuing both of them considering we will probably land neither.

Well, when you put it that way ...

The Cornhuskers are currently expressing interest in Brown transfer Rafael Maia. He would be a graduate transfer and is looking to play elsewhere. Maia played in three seasons for Brown and in a total of 78 games. This season, Maia played in 28 games and in 72.7% of the team's minutes. He had an offensive rating of 107.6 and an effective field goal rate of 54.7%. He is listed at 6'9" and 245 lbs and is also considering Boston College, California, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Rice, and Stanford among others.

Regardless, he's a smart dude too:

Rafael Maia | Senior | Basketball | Sao Paulo, Brazil

Business, Entrepreneurship, Organizations

CoSIDA Academic All-District selection ... Honorable Mention All-Ivy selection ... led the Ivy League in FG % (.538) and RPG (8.7).

I'd say the guy we might get compares pretty favorably with the guy we did get but then didn't get.  Two seasons ago, some of us (me included) were pining for what might have been if we'd kept Fahro in the fold.  Well, hey, we kinda find ourselves that one big player short again this year.  And I'd say Rafael is a damn sight better than chopped liver.

Here's another chance at a serviceable big. That's all we need. Get in there, push people around, create space and rebound. And hey, if we throw you the ball catch it and put it in off the glass. Or just flush the damn thing. There should be big guys out there who want a chance like this. Play in the big ten. Minutes galore. If this guy passes then I'm gonna really start to wonder what is going on.

That's almost all of it.... staying out of foul trouble is also very, very important. :)

We need a big that can:

- Set good picks

- Rebound and box out

- Provides a reasonable presence in the middle

- Has reasonable offensive moves and results

- Has reasonable to good hands

- Is smart and has good character

- Is a good teammate...places team first

- Is coachable.

- Is healthy and can eat minutes.

This kid may not be a superstar, but he certainly can and should be a good complimentary player.

So...I am begging you Rafael, come to dear ol UNL...please.
