This may sound somewhat childish on my part, but does anyone know how to pronounce his name?  I need the right pronunciation in my head.

Yeah, I was wondering if this wasn't a potential gray area...I suppose as long as the video was taken by a family member and they sent it to the LJS it's okay?  But still...I wouldn't want to be taking any chances.

His coach/mentor uploaded it to Youtube.  No different than any other home video.

Sounds like Lee B may have ruffled a few feathers by reporting this.

Sean Callahan: Very disappointing the Omaha World Herald chose to report this with "sources" instead of waiting to let Arop have his moment and tell his team and classmates tomorrow at South like originally scheduled. Obviously Robin [Washut] knew this info as well, but we respected the wishes of those at South.

Those "sources" close to Arop should've kept their mouths shut. Lee is a reporter. He simply did his job. No reason for Callahan or Washut to have their panties in a twist.

Sources say stuff all the time but those don't always turn into full newspaper articles. Lee could have just reported an update that he was near a decision.

I thought that was exactly what Lee did.  Lee didn't say he committed.  He said sources said Arop was expected to commit (but hadn't done it yet.)

Sean Callahan needs to just stay quiet about this.  His comments make it sound like sour grapes, especially when Rivals' business model relies on reporting these kinds of scoops ahead of the print media.  Lee jumping the gun doesn't steal Arop's thunder; it deprives Rivals of a headline tease:  "Is Nebraska Close to Getting a New Hoops Commit?"

I see both sides but Lee basically said every detail without actually saying everything.  It was known since Friday he was making a decision Monday at school.  Lee knew this but he did let the cat out of the bag before Arop could make it a formality.  I'm sure he would have been happier to make it a surprise to the masses instead of Barf up my neck basically committing for him.

Here is the at this moment in time starting lineup for 2017-18

PG - Tarin Smith

SG - Aguek Arop

SF - Nick Fuller

PF - Keanu Pinder

C - Jake Hammond

And in a few hours couldn't we switch that to add a senior named White. Hope, hope, hope.

Arop and White would not play together.  Both have 3 years left at their current schools.  Arop 3 at South and White a redshirt and 2 years at whatever school he signs with.

Sean Callahan kinda sucks sometimes.

What about Jays fans? Are they supposed to keep an eye on him too? Nope. Too late. They didn't want him anyway. I assume little brother will also be N. Even more to the importance of locking up Aguek's early commitment. I know Coach Miles is focused on these next couple classes but he needs to get an offer out there to Akol so he can schedule his announcement.

Are we looking at any of the other kids on Arop's AAU team?

Bump just in case my question got missed.

Are we looking at any of the others?  I believe there are three, including Arop, who appear to be damn good and maybe worthy of upper D1 attention.  Some kid named Marquis Wilson, maybe?  And not sure the other kid's name.

Anyone know?  TIA.

Wow - what a day.

First of all, congrats to Arop and the coaching staff.  Now, an observation: while I am ecstatic about the AW III announcement, I have to admit I am a little more guarded about this one.  And I wish both the player and the program all the best in the world.  But I have to think this is going to be a long 3 years for player and program alike.  Both parties clearly are taking a risk on each other.  NU (heaven forbid) could lose their current coaching staff or have some kind of other calamity that would make NU a less attractive option for Aguek.  And NU is obviously betting Aguek will develop into a Big Ten player.

I understand the pressure the coaching staff is in and why they had to offer when they did.  Just acknowledging the risks.  The flip side is that it will make watching HS basketball in the Omaha metro a lot more interesting to me the next 3 years.

The positive is that the majority of kids getting high level D1 offers between 8th grade and before their sophomore years usually end up being at least serviceable players at the next level assuming they dont get involved in any drugs or arrests which tend to derail some careers.
