So do we know if this kid is coming for an official visit tomorrow or not?  It was first reported that he was and then reported that he wasn't so not sure.  Anyone confirm either way?

that tweet by dan was from april 6 at 8:51 am

later that afternoon, somebody from journal star said that it wasn't confirmed that he was visiting.

Ah crap...I though I had the date right on that though given I just had to double check if it was Wednesday or Thursday this isn't a huge shock to me.

Disregard my previous post.  Good job nailing that one, ME!

I would take this kid and two non-graduate transfers with the three available ships and call it a day.

And then I'd hope like heck that Jacob Hammond gets lost inside the weight room and the training table and doesn't come out1 until he weighs 245# with 5% body fat.

1  Except to go to class, natch.

Question for our recruiting guys... Any chance this kid can see the court his freshman year?

He seems raw(not a bad thing) Just more curious.

I think he would be forced into more minutes than he would earn if NU had depth in the front court but still feel he would play some. He provides a lot of athleticism down low and can help create some mismatches while providing some rest for the starters.

Might also depend on how fast he catches on to the pack line d we now seem to be running.

Honestly, I don't think he seems all that raw.  There are some things I think he can polish up, but for a HS kid, he's pretty skilled.  ESPECIALLY for a guy his size.  Look at some of those videos that have been posted.  These are more than just highlight films.  I mean, they are highlight films but they're extensive and not just half second snippets of the kid's greatest plays of the year.  You'll see basically ever basket he scored in entire games and the footage of each sequence ends up being up to several seconds long so you get a pretty good picture of how active he is, etc.

There were several instances where he was out leading the break in transition on the dribble, defender tries to stop the ball (him) and he does a spin dribble to a layup.  I mean, that's pretty good skill even for a 6'2" kid.  You might hope to see a Johnny Trueblood be able to execute that move without travelling.  But Edwards is 6'9".

He's got very good agility, as I've mentioned a number of times, so I'm hesitant to continue to say it, but since you asked ...

He has a very deft shooting touch around the basket.  Look at the way he uses the backboard.  That can be taught, but for him it seems intuitive.  Not all shots for a post are going to be dunks at the next level.

He has good size, he has good muscle structure and frame, which means he'll be able to add weight.  I mean, what's not to like?

The only thing that I kinda sorta question about him is that on the offensive side, when he gets the ball down low, he seems to want to finesse things a bit too much instead of going up strong.  He's trying to fade away on his shots and avoid contact and I don't think he needs to do that.  But that can be coached up pretty readily.

Yes, I think this kid would see minutes and I think he'd see them right away.  Depth or no depth.  My money would be on him being in the top 8 in the rotation for sure.  Possibly starting depending on how much Jacob Hammond improves during the off-season.

To those who say they aren't impressed by this kid and think maybe he's just blowing up because, at this late stage in the recruiting game, teams are trying to fill up roster vacancies, let me ask what it is you aren't impressed with.

I've answered the question a couple of times in this thread about why I do like him.  I want to know why people hold a different view.  Fill me in.  What is it you see or don't see?
