If he is realistically an option I'm sure the staff has done it's due diligence. I'm sort of on the side of "hope his issues don't cause us chemistry problems. I like what we have. He wod add depth and allow Hammond to RS

Yes I imagine the coaches will work him out during his visit to see if they think he can contribute.

I would also think they'd wait to see if he is eligible immediately before offering.

Got to wonder if this is more of a walk-on tryout.

The guy lived out of his car.  I doubt he could afford to pay out of state tuition to walk-on.  He's only going to a school that can offer him a scholarship.

Yeah, and if he's eligible immediately, it wouldn't hurt to give him a scholarship - we have 2 open.  Even if he doesn't contribute much, he'd be a tall, athletic presence in practice and scout team.

After all he's been through, I just want to see this kid finish his college degree and turn his life around.

Based solely on the film, sign him up.  Freak athlete.  I think he could definitely contribute and give us a really interesting look at the 4-5.  Looks like he could outrun most bigs easily.

This.  Holy moly, this.

Freak 6-10 guys that can jump out of the gym and alter shots, can play right away...I mean seriously, those do not grow on trees.  This dude has been through some stuff to get to this point.  I think he's exactly the type of player Miles could latch onto and turn into another famous success story.

I mean shoot...he was good enough a player that Oklahoma St recruited him.  Dude was a shotswatting freakshow in JUCO.  Whatever happened at Okie St...this kid has tons of talent.  And I don't think he's a bad influence or a locker room "cancer" at all.

Unless there is some crazy red flags we discover when he visits, if he can play next year....YES.  A hundred times over, yes.

I live down here in Oklahoma and OKST has been a dumpster fire the last couple years under Ford.  I'm not holding too much against this kid for not working out under those conditions.  Is it a risk? Maybe, but considering our options (especially since Smith went down), it may be a risk worth taking.

The red flag to me is just looking at the schools that want him.  There's still many schools with an open scholarship out there that obviously arent showing any interest.  NU needs to take more chances but it does show some discrepancies when comparing the 3 schools involved.

Do any of the schools with open scholarships remaining this late in the process have an immediate spot to fill for a 1 year big? I mean, those schools may have open scholarships but may be content with leaving those open or have big guys in place for the coming year. Sure, anybody could use an athletic big, but how many teams have a glaring void this late in the game? Id imagine most teams aren't in our position and have some bigs that have been in their system in place to play.

Maybe it's been said already, but will this kid be a Jr or a Sr?

He would be a warm body for back up for one season.  Doubtful it materializes for NU.

Sounds like all of his visits got canceled. Such a strange case in recruiting from the beginning for this guy. Hope his life starts heading in the right direction for his sake.

Maybe it was discovered that he wasn't going to be eligible?

Thats something you think would've been done by all parties prior to extending him the visits.

You would think but maybe we were just lining up to take a chance along with the other two schools. Gaskins was the one with the military injury, correct? I thought there was some doubt on if he would be immediately eligible and that there was only hope that he would be granted a waiver to be eligible immediately for this season.

I wonder if we'll find out what this means.

I'm guessing it means that he wouldn't be eligible this season.

If he had immediate eligibility, I don't think all of his visits would have been cancelled.  But I don't think he's worth holding a scholarship for 2 years.

That would definitely be a reason for us to cancel...is that a good enough reason for St Francis to cancel?
