Probably a back-up plan to Morrow and McVeigh.  They have to be the top 2 small forwards on our board for 2015.  I'd like to see us start bringing in some big guys and outside shooters to visit.

Watch his most recent highlights from this summer. He remind me a heck of a lot like Shavon Shields and his game watching it. I see him more of a 3 than I do a 4 so I don't see him a backup to Morrow since they wouldnt play the same position.

That's what I was thinking...you have faster fingers than I do...

He's a good player.  Creighton was really high on him before adding some length with Gilmore, Harrell and Huff last year, and turning their apparent focus to guards for 2015 after the Patton commit.

Think the offer has to do with Miles watching him plenty this summer rather than having much to do with NU's standing with any other prospects, including Morrow (and who is to say that Morrow will definitely be a better college player than Puryear?).  NU's going to have 3-6 scholarships available for 2015, so there surely can be some skillset overlap among the guys who ultimately commit.

I read that Miles was at a lot of Puryear's games this summer.  Probably saw what he liked and offered.

Miles seems to be focusing on the SF/PF hybrids like Shields, Pitchford and Fuller, e.g. guys who can play inside if necessary or pull back to the 3pt line and fire away.  Utilizing that and bigger, long armed guards like Petteway and Webster will clog up the passing lanes and limit the exposure from an undersized guy playing in the post.  It kind of reminds me of the Duke system (which is dominant when it has a big guy in the post and only solid with a 6'8"/6'9").

Safe to say we won't get this kid now that we got Jacobsen?

I think he is now the back-up plan to Morrow.

Let's say that we manage to sign Morrow (F) and Watson (G).  I would think we would want to have the last scholarship go to a forward or center.  And in that case, wouldn't Puryear be an option?

You have two tweeners already in Jacobson and Morrow that could both play the 3 or 4 if necessary.  Puryear is also of the same similar mold as he could play both so having a 3rd is overkill at that point unless he is truly a game changer which I don't see (see more of a lesser verison of Shavon in him than anything).  I think they try and get a center and/or SG to round out the class for whatever is the best fit.

The film wasn't bad at all.  Kid does some nice things on the offensive end.  Not perfect but he has plenty of opportunity to develop once he gets to college.  I'd rather have him than have a scholarship sit open another year, that's for sure!  So, if we're still near the top of his list, I don't see why we'd back off of him even if we get a commit from Morrow.

Question is can you keep players of similar abilities in the same class happy?  Did you make promises the Morrow and Jacobson that they are the only ones?  I'd be happy to take him but I'd rather grab a player at a position that is likely to be here a couple years.  I just have a feeling that if we took those 3 one of them would be gone in 2 years and be starting over again.  Now if there's nothing else available worth its salt then take him, but if we have options elsewhere on the floor I'm exhausting those first.
