Silverbacked1 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 First 32 oz is free, then $7 a refill. $20 to get in before or $25 at the door. Also German food. Creighton plays the Leathernecks of WIU at 7. It is Sept. 5 Huskers play at 11 the next morning against McNeese State. jdostal 1 Quote
hhcmatt Posted August 25, 2014 Author Report Posted August 25, 2014 One if the rivals basketball writers did a story with Watson tonight. Said there's a decent chance after talking to him he could commit after his visit this weekend. Would be huge. Hopefully he will commit soon if he's coming here. He tweets so much that this thread would turn into a dumpster fire. Creighton Fan and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
lanigan123 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 I keep pinching myself. Nebrasketball and talent infusion seem so distant. Quote
huskerbaseball13 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Lets hope we land him first...obviously we have a great shot. Hopefully he has a good visit. I'm sure the coaches will do their best to real him in. He would be a very good PG in our system. Quote
kldm64 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 I had my hopes up we could land this kid until I learned we were going to have to compete against Socctoberfest. How can any school compete against that as doesn't seem like a fair fight. I can see any kid that CU brings in during Socctobersest getting caught up in the moment and committing on the spot. I think all other schools need to ban together and petition the NCAA and put a stop to allowing CU to use Socctoberfest as a recruiting tool. Nobody has a chance against that... berlinblackshirts and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
lanigan123 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Let's compare visits... World class facilities and an outstanding game day atmosphere versus hanging in a small bar and touring good facilities. Easy choice. Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Having Watson in the fold as well as White can do nothing but make the decision that much easier for Morrow and any other recruit they are after as far as having a great supporting cast in the mix. AuroranHusker 1 Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 All joking aside, it makes me somewhat nervous that we are the first of the two visits... If a national analyst with no ties to any program thinks that he may commit this weekend after talking to him, it doesnt really worry me much. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Getting a guy like Watson on board would only bolster my confidence in landing Morrow as well. No doubt. Those two would be the centerpiece together for this class... Quote

lanigan123 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Especially with recruiting in the next cycle. We have a solid foundation now just need X, Y or Z. Huge bump. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 From watching film of Watson and Morrow, I think they would be very good compliments to each other. They each allow the other to do what they do best. Watson breaks his defender off the dribble for either a pull-up or a dish. He needs a competent guy down low to dish to as the pressure relief valve on his penetration. Morrow is that guy: Great hands; plays above the rim; gets a lot of his results inside not by posting up on the blocks but by cleaning up inside, including getting the no-look dish from a penetrating point. lanigan123 Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Along with guys like Fuller and White for kick outs. Quote

Watson would be perfect for our motion offense. I hope Miles and company can close on him this weekend. He may still want to take other visits but I have to believe we are in good position with being in the Big Ten and the momentum we have right now. This class could really come together if we can land a guy like Watson. Not only that...we land Morrow and Watson that will be huge for us recruiting Chicago in the future. Quote
The Coach Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 While I'd be thrilled to land a Top 100 recruit, it's going to be hard to keep all the point guards happy the next couple of years. Are there enough minutes for Webster, Smith, Parker, and Watson? Quote

Are there enough minutes for Webster, Smith, Parker, and Watson? I think the plan has always been to move Webster to the 2 guard when we have enough depth at PG. This can happen if we land Watson. I doubt Watson would be worried about a senior in Benny Parker...that would leave him battling for minutes with Smith thru his career. And IMO, anywhere he goes he will always have someone else on the roster who he will be competing for minutes with. PT is not an issue if he is the player people think he is. Quote

ShortDust Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 You have to have the battle for minutes. Means there is a lot of competition. May the best man earn his minutes. If we have players leaving because we are landing top 100 talent then I think we are in good shape. Concrete 1 Quote
OurDecay Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 With as aggressively as we play defense on the perimeter, and the way refs are calling fouls in college basketball...I'm all for having plenty of guard depth. While we GATA this last year, I kinda felt like we couldn't be quite as aggressive as we wanted to be because we were so worried about staying out of foul trouble. Also worth noting that playing good defense will wear you out. Our style of play will sing with proper depth...particularly if those players all carry with them offensive threat. Quote

Hammond is the only underclassman we have that plays inside. Quote

Hammond is the only underclassman we have that plays inside. The problem is EVERY team in the country needs depth inside. Its why guys like Serg Vucetic get major offers out of high school because finding serviceable big men is tough to find. Its also why you see guys that do well at some small school and decide to transfer and end up with schools like Ohio State, Michigan, etc because they are a proven commodity and can move on up if they want. I think it will continue to be tough to find big men as there isnt many locally to pull from so you look at Juco's and transfers which happened a lot last cycle and got us Moses. Quote

Not that he won't improve but if you want to up your shooting percentages then playing Webster at 2 guard is probably not the wisest decision...especially when Smith and Watson are also not threats from outside. You'd be playing two non-shooters at your 1 and 2...We'll see if Tai made strides this summer with his shot, but history would say that most kids don't see drastic improvement from just one good summer getting shots up in the gym. IMO Tai makes the most impact at the 1 with his size advantage and penetrating ability. If he can keep his head up more this year and improve his decision making he could be a very good starting B1G point guard Quote

Not concerned at all about Tai and his progression, he'll be just fine. Quote
