No he redshirted his 2nd year at G'town so he could possibly play another year at G'town.

The rule doesn't give you a 5th year of playing, it just allows you to transfer to another D1 school without the penalty of sitting out a year. If you played all 4 years without a redshirt, you wouldn't be eligible to use this loophole/rule for an immediate transfer to another D1 school. Your eligibility would be used up.

I believe the original idea behind it was if you graduate in 4 years, but you've only played 3 years because of a redshirt season, and your current school doesn't offer a particular graduate field of study you want, that you're able to move to a new school that does have that field of study as a graduate course, but you don't have to sit out a year to do it. It was meant to reward good students who were trying to obtain a certain type of graduate degree. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Ok thanks. Overlooked his redshirt year so he's been at Georgetown 4 years and played 3. Yeah it would be kinda awkward if he had to tell Georgetown that he wanted to come back and play his last year there. So, however quirky the rule, the only way Ayegba can come to Nebraska is if he graduates from Georgetown. I think you're correct in the original thinking or intention of the rule. Instead it's just turned into a free agency where high major teams can pad their rosters with no consequences.

Yeah that's a good point on free agency - kind of one and done in the opposite direction  ;)

My guess would be that G'town has made plans to move on, so he would not be allowed to come back - if he can't get his final credits needed to graduate he could always go D2 or NAIA without having to sit out a year as mentioned earlier on here.

However I fully expect him to be on NU's roster by August. Would sure be nice to have a combo of him, Hammond & Smith to fill the 40 minutes at the 5 so Walt can focus on playing the 4.

One red flag that appeared back when he first hit the scene is how turnover prone he is.  Last time I checked in late Febuary he was averaging 5.1 TO/game out of his team's 14.9.  I haven't watched his individual game tapes yet (they are out there), so I don't know how or why that's happening...but it stuck out.

If you do end up watching any of the full game footage he basically is their main weapon on offense.  He spent of a lot of time as a point forward.  Thats something he wouldnt be asked to do at NU which would dramatically reduce his turnovers if hes not handling the ball the majority of the time.

That Trahson Burrell kid must be pretty sick.  Averaging over 25 a game.  Believe he's headed to Memphis.
