Perhaps there is more than a bit of hope in my declaration, but I believe Terran would benefit from at least one more year of college ball.  He has matured as a player and a person over his time here, but he can get even better.  Please Terran, at least one more year.

I haven't seen any other mock drafts with him being mentioned so I think he will be in Red next year....but if he finishes with a bang you never know.

Is he working his way towards being an NBA draft pick?  Yes.

Is he a future 1st rounder?  Maybe...probably not but maybe.

Should he currently be projected as a first rounder?  lol.

"What are we going to do without Terran next year" is your official thing to waste your time worrying about of the week.

Terran knows how far he's come with his game and becoming a known commodity over the last 1.5 years. He has to be smart enough to realize that if (when) this program takes off, it will be in large part because of him, and this will propel his stock even more. He has to believe that he could rise to the level of lottery pick. That is legitimately possible. I think he wants NCAA success. At least I hope.

If he's good enough to go and get drafted, no way I'd fault him for leaving early to do that. That's an opportunity to fullfill a lifelong dream. It's also good for the program to show you can make it to the NBA from here. That hasn't been done in a long time. I'd love it it if he stuck around for another year (or two), but dang, if he's that good, more power to him.  Also, it's not uncommon for an underclassman to declare for the draft and go undrafted. He'll have to weigh that as well.

No kidding.  It would suck for next year's outlook, but long term you have to think we would benefit from it.

That said, I would much rather have him on next year's team.  I agree with you though, you can't blame him if he does leave.

Funny how we've gone from "he's a selfish player, coach needs to sit him"

to

"what are we going to do if he leaves early for the NBA?"

We need more games to watch/dissect.  Off days are brutal for our psyche.

Doesn't that seem odd to you...that some draft site would think he's a first round draft pick before the people who watch him the most?

Not at all considering for years this site has been dedicated to scouting and projecting players to the NBA draft.  Oh, and their scouting report of Petteway appears to be pretty solid also.  This isn't one guy running a garbage site...this is a site that pays scouts and a site that has direct contacts to NBA scouts.  Next update Terran could fall out of the first round...or not even be on the board.  I just thought it was interesting his name is picking up steam.

It seems that your MO is to inject FUD into the discussion more often than not.  Why you feel the need to do that I don't know, but if you expect to get away with stirring up the pot then you should be able to take getting called out on it.

By no means do I think this thread should get locked.  But I do think we have more important things to worry about or discuss on here.  Just my opinion though, go ahead and wring your hands about losing Petteway early to the NBA.

Stirring up what pot exactly?  If anything you are the one stirring the pot because once again....you dont like a thread.  I created a topic and posted a LINK to show Terran being projected first round....god forbid we actually have a discussion related to Husker basketball without you whining about something you don't like! Why does EVERY single thread have to get your okay?  We have more important things to worry about and discuss? Like what exactly?  What exactly should us fans worry about that is going to change the outcome of this upcoming couple of games?? Seems to me if you don't like a thread...or it doesn't meet your approval you should feel free to not respond instead of asking the thread to be locked or better yet...telling all of us what we should be discussing.

Two things that interest me...

1.  Poor assist to turnover ratio. Some of which can be attributed to being forced to make plays due to lack of quality teammates.

2.  Will turn 22 this year (October), so he's already the age of a senior, limiting his upside to a degree.

If he is indeed a first rounder, I kind of doubt he'd be back.  NBA scouts are already looking at him as a senior.  Take the money and run.   We should be in for a special season next year if he is back.  Who knows he could still lead us to something special this year if we can learn to win on the road.

Its's amazing how quickly he has turned into a nba'er.  Pretty much four games into the season and he hasn't looked back.  I really think the lack of quality teammates is enhancing his value though.  I'd love to see him next year, but this review is kind of scaring me.  He's basically where he needs to be to get to the NBA and has to take the opportunity if it is given him.

This review is spot on to me.

The OP wasn't stirring the pot.  I saw a tweet about it before it was posted here.  That a post appeared about it immediately afterwards is something I would expect.  Of course there should be a post about this.  This is Nebrasketball news.

The OP doesn't say "Petteway is going to the NBA".  It says it would be a big blow to the team if Petteway did get drafted.  That is an accurate statement.

I don't think he's going in the first round this year.  I very well may be wrong.

I think we'll have a bunch of discussion about it this week that will amount to nothing.  Once again, very well might be wrong.

Who said I didn't like the thread, or that this topic should or should not be discussed?  I only commented that it was funny how opinions of Petteway have taken such a 180 this year.

Who says I have to *approve* of anything around here?  I have NO authority around here, believe me.

Where did I ask for this thread to be locked?  I explicitly said that "by no means should it be locked".

Okay, maybe the "stirring the pot" comment was a little over the top, sorry about that.

So go back to discussing Petteway to the NBA.  Please let's not make this thread about me.  Okay?

Here is that same page last week

They're a legit site but you don't really get page hits if you're ratings stay the same all the time.

Show me another site that lists Petteway being drafted at all and I'll hop right on that bandwagon.

I don't buy that he is first round worthy right now....he has been pretty damn good but I think he still has alot to work on.  Nor do I think leaving this year has even crossed his mind.  I do think it is something to watch though if he continues his strong play down the stretch against some good teams.  I don't think we will have to worry about it this year....but next year? Maybe.  Either way, it feels good to have a player who some outside of Nebraska thinks has NBA potential.  Next week he could fall off the board....but people are starting to recognize that he's a player.  Good for NU, good for Terran.

If we are going to want to compete in the B1G moving forward, we're going to need to have guys on the team that make us have these discussions every year.  This year it's Terran, next year it could be Tai, Hammond the year after that, etc...

But...if we want to WIN the B1G, we're going to need to keep these guys here more often than not until their senior year.

It's a problem, but it's a problem that's better to have than not.  I think we've gotten so used to the Barry/Doc eras we've forgotten what it's like to have actual talent on our basketball team.

Couldn't agree more. Not to disparage his game, but 6'6" guys like Petteway are a dime a dozen in the NBA.

There's a handful of other draft sites I'd look at before that one based on reliability.  Its great someone is mentioning him but just like Sesame Street which one of these doesnt belong, every other site not having him or the one that does.  He has a future if he continues to improve his overall game as well as his deficiencies and stays consistent on the stuff he currently doing well.

when you're at or near the top in ppg on a conference list like the B1Gs, you're going to get tossed on the ad nauseum lists created by equally ad nauseum people. I think it's good for us, ultimately, and I hope Terran gets to the Show one of these days.

We'll see what happens in the off season when this matters more, but I think it's a legit topic and an interesting one. Someday maybe we'll have the pleasure of getting to obsess over a new early draft loss every year! won't that be fun?

How long has he been the Big 10 scoring leader in conference games?
