OK, I kind of tried to get this going in another thread, but I think it deserves its own thread.  If NU were to have a dunk contest on Friday, who would win and why?

To me, the most obvious choice is Pitchford (based on reports).  But I am going out on a limb and predicting it could be Tai.  Imagine if that is true.  A PG whose got ups and can throw it down.  When was the last time NU could say that?!?

last year dylan talley.  We know he could throw down but he didnt ever show it off.

Petteway.

Tall guys like Pitchford seem less impressive dunking because they don't have to fly as high to throw it down.  Even if they do have the ups, it just doesn't look like they have to work as hard.

Petteway is apparently a pretty athletic guy in his own right, he's a little shorter, my guess is him.  Or Ray.

Tai has good length.  Good size for a point.  I'd be surprised if he has better ups than Ray, though.

upset special Mr. Brobasketball himself..apparently he made a two handed dunk last week...post knee surgery inspirational pick.

Heh!

But seriously, though.  Shavon.

49er, just curious.  I know you love you some Shavon, but are serious in that pick or just saying it b/c, well, you love you some Shields?  The only reason I ask is because I would probably not even have him in my top 5.  Never considered him to be very explosive to be honest.  Very crafty and smart, but not overly athletic or explosive.

No.  I'm not serious.  I don't honestly think he'd stand a chance in a dunk contest.

But mostly, I hate dunk "contests".  I'd rather watch them play h-o-r-s-e or something.

There are too many newcomers on this team to really know (or even guess) who would likely win a dunk contest.

Because I have my iPad and it gives me problems sometimes I can't retweet that Mr.Brobasketball benches 380 and has benched 225 25 times. He also has a 5.3 % body fat.

That was according to Brian Rosenthal, so it must be true. :)

In other words, he can bench Grant Gibbs the number of years of college eligibility he's had

With the guns on that kid, I certainly believe he can bench that much.  I'd be surprised that he has less body fat than David Rivers, though.  And speed enough to be on special teams?  If he's that fast, he should be in our main rotation.  Well, if he's learned to shoot, that is.  But, man, those are impressive numbers.

I think Biggs would do well in a dunk contest. He high jumped 7' in high school, and shorter guys always look more impressive in dunk contests.

Anyone else remember when Kyle Marks dunked over the entire team to win a dunk contest at an opening scrimmage? That was fun.

Thanks for the help dimes.

Yeah that is why I like the kid, he is the team bro, we love him other teams hate him.

He's the guy that gets under your skin when you play.

He is the one that makes his free throw and his team stays on for the 2 hours of open gym pick up games.

Yeah, ask Creighton fans how much he gets under the opposing teams' skin.  :D

It's too bad we didn't get a chance to see him go up against Aaron Craft.  Now, that might have been fun!

But apparently he can bring it like the hammer of Thor:

To be quite honest, I'm just glad we have athletes on the basketball team that can dunk again!  Our starting five should have no problem posterizing opposing players.  Now when is the last time us fans at Nebrasketball have been able to say that.  It's been a while!!

Btw, my pick is Petteway.  I think the kid is going to be a stud!!

You guys can't forget about Tyrance, he is unbelievably athletic, he just sometimes lacks the natural basketball skills and knowledge to make it happen in a real game, but I wouldn't rule him out for a dunk contest

This guy knows; never underestimate Jordan.

I'm surprised there aren't more in the Rey camp.. dude easily has the highest vertical on the team.  Unreal hops.

Yes he does, but I'm not sure I've ever seen him do anything other than the breakaway two-hand slam.  Does he have big enough hands to throw it down with one?
