Norm Peterson Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 All good points. I just can't help but think they aren't somewhat related. Even if it's minor. In football, there's no question one's offers/commitment affect his final rankings. All one has to do is watch how much a recruit's rankings change when an SEC school gets involved. Especially the ESPN rankings. For that very reason, I always take most recruiting rankings with a grain of salt. It's probably all in how you look at it. It's one of those 6 of one, half dozen of the other type things. If we weren't on the rise we probably aren't in on two top 100 recruits, but if the same two recruits were looking at a school like Northwestern or Penn St, they probably wouldn't be rated in the top 100 either. I think basketball is a little different than football though. I mean in the Rivals 150 there's commits to Oregon State, Rutgers, Auburn, Penn State, Temple etc that havent done well in years but are still getting good players. You have to figure some teams can only take 1-5 players a year but theres a huge pool of players out there so they have to go somewhere. Basketball's also different because you have recruiting classes of 2 or 3 instead of recruiting classes of 23. Quote
HuskerCager Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 This has been a very interesting couple of weeks when it comes to Morrow's recruitment. On one hand, all signs pointed to his recruiting heating up. He improved his stock with his summer play, right? And some articles have suggested he was working on setting up visits with additional schools.Yet, we are almost in mid September and he still has only two visits. I can't believe it isn't that other high majors aren't interested. It feels like our staff is just doing a superb job of reeling him in. At least I hope so. I don't think I can stomach losing another commitment to the Hawkeyes. He wouldn't, would he? Quote

Norm Peterson Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 For some reason I never made the connection that Ed Morrow is visiting for the Miami game, which is the same school his dad's football team beat for the National Championship in football in 1994. And Ed Sr. will be among the members of the '94 team who will be honored at halftime for winning a title against the Hurricanes 20 years ago. While his son is on an official visit here for basketball. Top that, Iowa. Now, with those stars lining up like that, if we DON'T get a commit from this kid this weekend, I will be astonished. bobcat402 and HuskerActuary 2 Quote

a0t0w0 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Mark Wieseman(sp?) is the leading rusher ** of Iowa **with less than 100 yards after three games. We have no one on our roster with the initials MW. This is a good sign Why you ask? Because they're the same fricking letter to someone with dyslexia. Speaking of which, if EM has dyslexia he's fine at NU because we're technically UN The fact that our letters are interchangeable makes us better than the other NU which can't swap when convenient. Speaking of convenience, UNL'S campus is close to many local businesses. Including El Potrero and Misty's. El Potrero + Misty's does not = EW EW= business for El Potrero and Misty's Simple math. WE WILL WIN. Norm Peterson and 49r 2 Quote
