ajb5856 Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 @HuskerExtraBC: According to @GoodmanCBS, you might soon see Doc Sadler working for The Mayor at Iowa State. #Nebrasketball Quote
4huskers Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 He was in Lincoln yesterday for some reason. Quote
cipsucks Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 He was in Lincoln yesterday for some reason. If I'm not mistaken, he still has a house here. And, if my info was correct, the family still resides here. I could be wrong..... Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 He was in Lincoln yesterday for some reason. hes still very close with many people in Lincoln after being here for so long. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Yes he still has a home in Lincoln...about a mile from Bo and Coach Miles home. And yes, I think his two sons and wife still are here part time and Doc is here when he can. I continue to wish him well. Quote
ajb5856 Posted May 10, 2013 Author Report Posted May 10, 2013 Lincoln is still his home base so he might be spotted more and more being the off season. Quote
49r Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Although they've been talking about it like it's a done deal on Phog.net for a couple weeks now, it appears this is now official...or close to being official...just waiting for the Rosenthal tweet. https://twitter.com/swmckewonOWH/status/340477197896806400 Quote

hhcmatt Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 He's possibly a couple of years away from becoming the first former Husker basketball coach in a long time, if ever, to have a Div I coaching career somewhere else. Quote

Handy Johnson Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 What does ISU stand for? I Screwed Up Quote
tcp Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Congrats to Doc. ISU's defense should improve. I hope he gets another shot in a couple of years. Quote
kldm64 Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 Congrats to Doc. ISU's defense should improve. I hope he gets another shot in a couple of years. I doubt he will get another head coaching job and any major D1 schools but he might be a very good assistant coach at ISU or another school. It's got to be difficult to go from being a head coach to assistant coach. Quote
Red Rum Posted May 31, 2013 Report Posted May 31, 2013 I don't think it will be a problem. It's not like he went directly from a head coach to an assistant. He did have a year at KU to cool off so to speak. Granted he didn't have any hands on recruiting or coaching but I think Doc will be fine. And he will be a head coach if he wanted to. Not at a major Division I school but still a Division I school. There are like 300+ of them. Quote

On the other hand, aren't you thrilled that this step-up in pay for Doc means UN-L's costs for his buyout go down? Quote

It's got to be difficult to go from being a head coach to assistant coach. Maybe not at a BCS school, but he'll land something in Div 1. He's a damn fine coach with a weakness that he'll be addressing. He's not the first coach to have this happen to him and he won't be the last. I honestly think he's picked up for a head gig within 3 years. In 6 years at NU he had only one truly disastrous season: his last. He also coached out of his mind for one of those seasons: his third. People who pay attention to these things won't just remember year 6. Quote

jimmykc Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 I'll give credit to my "inside source" in Lawrence for forcasting this when Doc didn't get the Dooley job he wanted. Now to see if Wiggan's dad ends up with his old job. This is already on the "other" basketball forum that only the crickets visit. I liked the old days when the dungeon had every post and I just had one button to push on the old ebay. Quote

As I understand it, you can hire family members as assistant coaches, but nothing else. Daledangdarn 1 Quote
